I have seen several references to a Richard Dawkins in the religious comments posted on this site.
Could anyone enlighten me as to whom this man is?

A very very clever man. Am currently reading the ancestors tale which is heavy duty!
Im surprised at the reactions of some here, Dawkins is entitled to be as fanatical an athiest as he wants, he doesn't tell you bible/quran/torah bashers how fanantical to be, he just wonders why you are.
Sensing real emnity from some answers, must be that religious tolerance seeping through! You carry on :)))))))))))))

I have listened to him being interviewed on a long chat show, He comes over as a very accomplished intelligent man, with traits of arrogance towards the religious, The interviewer was a disciple of him, and became rude towards the Christians Muslims etc. and was spell bound to his every word. He has the charisma of most oral leading speakers, and his points of view are very substantial, But the Richard Dawkins of this world' will come and go and forgotten, Christ will continue to the millions'

He is currently the Charles Simyoni professor of populising science at Oxford University.

most will refer you to his latest book the God Delusion but his greatest works IMHO are the Selfish Gene, the Blind Watchmaker and Climbing Mount Improbable
