Having just watched a lady sit in an intersection, waiting to make a left turn in her car and at the same time talking on her cell phone, be oblivious to the fact that the lights had changed and traffic was going around her made me think that there should be a law. Women are known to be more involved in their conversations and more sensitive the words of others compared to men. This creates a situation that when they are driving a car and talking on a cell phone, they may only see the conversation in their head and not the road in front of them making them very dangerous.

I knew I would ruffle a few feathers but a recent news broadcast told of two teenagers killed in a traffic accident because they were texting and trying to drive. Cell phones, Black berries, I pods, electronic navigators, e-mail, the internet, DVDs and driving! How about a robot to drive the car.

In California, its illegal, but also extremely annoying, especially when your behind someone who's talking on the phone and driving a stick at the same time!
I don't talk on the phone while I'm driving, so why should I have to put up with the people that do?

It is annoying, but it shouldn't be illegal anywhere. It's an arbitrary, ridiculous law. There are countless things people do behind the wheel which prevent them from focusing on driving. Cell phone talking is only singled out because it is a relatively new and fairly common phenomenon. Also, if you look at the number of accidents which occur because people are on the phone and compare to the number of cell phone conversations or total time people spend on the phone, it's obvious that the huge majority of people are driving safely almost all the time. My point is that it doesn't come close to being a behavior which is so inherently likely to cause harm that it should be banned.
Laws should forbid doing harm or being so reckless that there is a high probability of doing harm. Some people on cell phones are reckless and dangerous, just like some people who aren't. But talking on a cell in and of itself doesn't meet that standard. Laws should target people who are actually reckless rather than the people we think might possibly do something reckless.

Men, women, teens, seniors, any group should not be allowed to be on a cell phone while driving, period. It is dangerous and inconsiderate. I don't understand how ordering a pizza or making a date can possibly be more important than the lives of other people on the road. To single out women invites deserved abuse, by the way.

2 factors: it incredibly is wildly faulty to single out females for this style of habit. Secondly, maximum individuals believe they are completely able to multitasking, regardless of overwhelming evidence to the choice. Hell, we even understand that arms-unfastened telephones are no safer than speaking on a widespread cell telephone mutually as using or working dangerous equipment...yet human beings nonetheless do it. look at it this manner: it took extra suitable than thirty years for many individuals of drivers to get to the element the place we consistently buckle up mutually as using: it took all those years and all those site visitors tickets to knock it into our heads. it incredibly is going to take as some years and as plenty attempt to get human beings to coach off the damn telephones mutually as using. And nonetheless there are people who fail to obey the regulation and use elementary sense. it is why we would desire to save on paying taxes - we want the law enforcement officers obtainable to nail those jackasses.

in UK and many other countries, it is illegal. However it is not illegal to use a hands free kit. they cost about £15. So how much is a life worth? According to some drivers, less than £15. Speaks volumes.

Gender and driving abillity are not correlated. Women actually have fewer accidents per mile driven than men.
It should be illegal for ALL drivers to use cell phones while driving.

It should be illegal for everyone. I've seen a fair share of bad male drivers and an equal amount of bad women drivers. Someone above said sex has nothing to do with it, I agree.
