Matthew 24:14 means that before Jesus returns, the Good News about the Kingdom (the message of salvation) would be preached throughout the world. This was to be the disciples' mission ~ and ours today. Jesus talked about the end times and the final judgment to show his followers the urgency of preaching the Good News of salvation to everyone.

In this chapter, Jesus' disciples asked him what the sign of his presence, and the conclusion of the system of things would be. What follows is the composite sign that Jesus gave his disciples, Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, his disciples would be delivered up and persecuted, etc... But in verse 14, he says, " and this good news of the kingdom will be preached as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come." Jesus had prepared his disciples for the work that they had ahead of themselves, "to preach the good news to the nations." It is God's will that everyone come to an accurate knowledge of him and his requirements so that everyone has the opportunity to be saved from the destruction that is to come. Including the scriptures b-4 & after..

Signs of Christ's presense, last days

24:14;
And the good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Great Tribulation. Like Noah's Day.

Oh yes, I can do that--not really--but it's my first thought. I think it goes with Matthew 28:19-20, . . . go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Hold Spirit--I can't remember precisely and I didn't write it down. So once all the people of the world have heard the message of Christ, then the stage will be set for the second coming of Christ. Who knows. More importantly, what do you think it means as you are studying and are in a spiritual mood.

If your source of truth is the Bible, then we read in the Bible that this event has already occured (been fulfilled):

"if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister - Colossians 1:23. nas.

but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen. - Romans 16:26,27 nas.

Therefore, the LORD Jesus can return at any time now, upon the clouds of glory; be patient and watch!

In the NAB, it says "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come." A footnote to this verse says, ' this verse repeats Mark 13:10 ("But the gospel must first be preached to all nations.") The Matthean addition raises a problem since what follows in verses 15-23 refers to the horrors of the First Jewish Revolt including the destruction of the temple, and Matthew, writing after that time, knew that the parousia of Jesus was still in the future. A solution may be that the evangelist saw the events of those verses as foreshadowing the cosmic disturbances that he associates with the parousia (29) so that the period in which the former took place could be understood as belonging to 'the end'.

From a study of Matthew I did 2 yrs ago in the Catholic church I belong to, I learned that this verse does not stand alone. Plus it does not mean that once all of mankind has faith, Christ will return. Because not all of mankind will have faith in Christ. If that were to happen, then Christ would not have had to die for us. This verse refers to Jesus telling His followers that they are to reach all the "corners" of the world, to travel over the lands and teach people that they meet about Christ and His Father. They were actually eye-witnesses to Jesus and His miracles, His actually words and love and as being a followers, after His death, it was their duty to tells others. Jesus told man about His Father. Believers are to tell non-believers about His Father as well. Some Biblical scholars wrote that the last part of that verse (" and then the end will come") was Jesus foretelling His followers about His death, the end of His earthly life.

It's a warning to those who pretend to be religious, but don't practice the truth of it. Devouring widows houses= money hungry Pretense of long prayer= performing religious practices for attention. This is the reason Jesus clashed so often with the religious establishment.

Paul describes it as " having a form of godliness, but denying the power therein.

Sorry I read 23: 14..

This is a prophecy fortelling that in the last days, there will be an increase in the preaching of the good news of God's Kingdom all over the earth before the end comes. There is only one religion that is fulfilling that prophecy on earth today.

It is a continuation/similarity of Jesus's universal message of "Go ye into all the world..." saying that salvation is not just for the Jews but for all of mankind and the Lord's Word and Gospel of Jesus Christ is to be shared with all.
