I am a Christian and I do not think that of itself, pot is bad. Yes, it was put here for a reason, and there are many good uses for it, but like everything else, it can also be misused.

Pot is actually illegal because back in the 50s & 60s, the government decided that pot made black people go crazy and kill and rape people (although there have never been any actual cases of someone murdering or raping due just to pot.)Seriously, TV ads in the 60s use to show this kind of hype over weed. Then, when the hippie movement started, the government needed to find a reason to get the hippies off the street, criminalize them, and put them in jail.

Now, even though I do not have a problem with pot, the Bible also tells us that we should respect and follow the rules of the land, so long as they do not go against the Bible. Thus, since weed is illegal, Christians should respect the law and not use it until it becomes legal again. And if it ever does become legal, it should not be used in excess, but only in moderation.

Pot isnt't bad. The world's leading cannabis researcher at UCLA has proven that mj use is a counter-indicator for cancer. This finidng has been repeated by Johns Hopkins university researchers.

The Bible says that God gave humans every herb-bearing seed. Biblical scholars have identified the ocurrance of cannabis (Kaneh-bosom) in the original scripture, and speculated that the oil Christ annointed others with may have been mj infused.

UPDATE: I called Lotus1s' bluff, and have copied this corroborating statement from wikipedia:

Cancer risk
Cannabis smoke contains numerous carcinogens;[40][41][42] however, scientific studies have failed to show higher cancer rates in cannabis smokers. A study published in 2006 by Donald Tashkin of the University of California, Los Angeles, the largest study of its kind, concluded there is no link between smoking cannabis and lung cancer.[43] A study published in 2006 on a large population sample (1,200 people with lung, neck, or head cancer, and a matching group of 1,040 without cancer) failed to positively correlate a lung cancer risk. The results indicated a slight negative correlation between long and short-term cannabis use and cancer, suggesting a possible therapeutic effect. Cellular studies and even some studies in animal models suggest that THC has antitumor properties, either by encouraging programmed cell death of genetically damaged cells that can become cancerous, or by restricting the development of the blood supply that feeds tumors.[44] Prior, a 1997 study examining the records of 64,855 Kaiser patients (14,033 of whom identified themselves as current smokers), also found no positive correlation between cannabis use and cancer.[45] A Research Triangle Institute study concluded that THC, a dilative agent, may help cleanse the lungs by dilating the bronchi, and could actively reduce the instance of tumors.[46] Additionally, a study by Rosenblatt et al. found no association between marijuana use and the development of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.[47] However, a contrasting 2006 study linked the smoking of cannabis to the growth of cancerous tumors through the impairment of anti-tumor defenses.[48]

Cannabis itself is not bad. Only the Crime of trafficking and handleing it is bad. Cannabis like MOST other herbs has beneficial effects When used in moderation as a healing remedy. It's those who use it "recreationally" that tend to abuse it and take it to excess. I have glaucoma and find that an infusion of it dropped inoto my eyes reduces the intra-ocular pressure significantly and does so without the side efects of Xalatan, the most prescribed legal medication used in America today. Cannibis, when smoked does NOT seem to have the same effect on my eyes however.

God made hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, salt water. Why not take some of that into your system? GOD MADE THEM, right? So they MUST be good for you.
For someone to ask a question like that and to be on the dean's list must have a real 'dumbed down' requirement to meet the dean's list. Maybe the 'deans' list' is like the PRINCIPAL'S LIST I was on in high school? ahahahahohohohoh
Thanks for the laugh!
Hmmm 45+ hours a week, going to college, making the dean's list. Gotta take of my rubber boots and put on my waders. It's getting deep in here!

Dear Vann,

God also made poisonm ivy but do you want to smoke that?

God established Government. The citizenry is to obey the government. If you are a christian and the government commands you to do something contrary to the Bible, then you should always obey God first and foremost.

I think that you are lonely and frstrated with life-just a guess. Start reading the Bible and ask God to give you some understanding of Him and His word.. The Lord is the only One that fill the void that is in all our lives.

I think it's more the escape from reality that is what is bad. If you are using it to dull the problems in your life, then it is a bad thing. (not saying YOU are, just in general)

Having said that I think there is very little wrong with weed, and I live in a city where it's basically legal, and too smoke almost everyday.

Just because it's bad for you doesn't mean the government has a right to make it illegal. Maybe they should make McDonalds illegal too since that is also bad for you...
