I just don't feel it. I really don't. Whenever we speak of balance, what are we really talking about?

Totally with you on that one, Sunman! Although, who's to say that balance keeps. Watch when the game changes. I had a crazy teacher who would say to us "balance, I'll give you balance! How about I pull the rug out from under you what are you going to do about you known world then?"

That's right, you become fluid. You dance. You cycle right out of the known into the unknown. Then you balance awhile, again...or stay dancing.

DM, I know what I'm doing! :)

Thanks to Maxwell-Heavyside we think electrically speaking of 'positive' and 'negative', and this pseudo-science has crept into nearly all of our thinking.

You know, I had decided if I could get that charge to manifest results, I'd be onto something there. Inconclusive results and way to long of an adventure for here, but it's pretty funny...

that good and evil story certainly makes us appear that way, RV. I like your use of the Earth Elements.

When the subject of dualism comes up, I always fly away to the intensive care unit. I see that little screen showing the ebbing life fluctuation (the one that everyone screams about when it flattens out!) of some departing soul.

The dualistic nature of things is of paramount importance to life...even the evil vs.good thing. Without these two, WE would ALL be flat lined!!

Can you imagine the droning on of life without our "Law and Order" or our merry "Simpson's"? What about the latest crushing headlines that everyone drools over...remember Clinton and Monica? I drank a few cups of coffee over that one! :-)

And so, this is the play of comedy and drama. We write the scripts and act them out. I think there are only about thirteen plot variations.

When this is deeply understood, there can be a "what's the purpose" feeling arise OR there can feelings of great release.

Supposedly, there is "order in this chaos", it just takes giving up on finding balance.

The balance of the universe is all about motion and stillness. Stop the motion and everything will by nature be out of balance.

Stop the breathing and one dies
Stop the heart and its all over
Stop the rotation of the earth and mankind flies on into space
Stop the expansion of the universe and at sometime it will all be overpopulated
Stop the pumping and the new generation of mankind will be a has-been in history.
Stop the evolution and the next dreamed up leaders will not take over this universe.

My friend I am convinced that in the motion there is a tomorrow and in stillness is only R. I. P. in the cemetery.

That concept of good and evil is only a result of continued motion which allows for opinions. Stop that motion and the opinions are all lost in total silence.

Well, I guess you have to be careful what you ask for ! ;-)

The only 'balance' required is when the duality presses too hard on us. There is no 'good' or 'evil', there are only the thoughts, words and deeds of us human beans, and the perception by others of them. Often we experience the creations of others as having undesirable effects on us, and we call it 'evil', and vice versa.

Duality was a necessary pre-condition of our entry into the physical Universe experience, but thankfully it is not a permanent feature, and we only need to 'balance' the excesses in the meanwhile.

Thanks to Maxwell-Heavyside we think electrically speaking of 'positive' and 'negative', and this pseudo-science has crept into nearly all of our thinking. The 'Lattice', i.e. the source of the 'One' 'force' has no polarity, no positive, no negative, no male, no female, as One Love would say, One Love ! ;-)

Static balance is neither a spiritual goal nor a cosmic one, since this would result in stasis and experience is movement. So, we're talking about a dynamic balance of opposing forces, and yes, perception itself, which forms the dualities, also keeps them in balance, since each polarity defines the other.

The dynamic balance allows for movement back and forth between all polarities, but everything moves, and so the reference point for the polarities also moves along with our spiritual evolution.

This applies to the perception of all dualities and not just good/evil.

For us as individuals I believe the balance is about the choices we make. That's how we achieve balance in our lives, and it is ongoing. I doubt anyone ever achieves true balance for any length of time. The challenge is in discerning what is right for you at any given time that makes you feel "right." That's what balance is about. And you can't have balance if you're only focused on angels or fairies or pure goodness. Life is not like that. There is a dark side to everything whether we like it or not.

We're talking either about mythology, or the human need to believe in something better than what we have. My personal opinion is that this is all there is and we should live our lives doing as well as we can and try not to hurt others as we go through the various stages of the only life we have.

It's about extremes. The world, the universe is fighting/working against chaos. Everything without work reverts to chaos. So balance is the attempt to prevent the extremes in life - the extremes of order and of chaos.

Not just good and evil but all things that keep us in homeostasis. Balance implies equality, yet there are always the have and have nots.

Nahhh.
I don't know about others, but I'm talking about the type of balance similar to that needed to walk a tightrope. Lean too much either way and...don't fall!

-----Wood Uncut: Yes, 'don't fall' is merely a suggestion. ;-)
