I just think they have this vision of an unattainable utopian world that theyre trying to achieve. One where everyone gets along and never fights and no one is poor. Nice thought but human nature makes it impossible to achieve.

Well, I'll use the ACLU as an example cause their my favorite used to be a great organization til the ultra left took over.

1) ACLU is fighting for the rights of NAMBLA, the North American Man Boy Love Association. A group of pedophiles.
2) The ACLU took up the case to have "One Nation Under God" take out of the Pledge of Alligence in California but haven't lifted a finger against the school allowing 15 minutes of prayer for Muslim students.
3) The ACLU fought for the rights of Neo Nazis to organize a parade promoting their agenda.

About human nature. Well can you justify Hitlers act saying it is Human nature. I suppose one could say the the chronic denial of your well stated facts could be termed a mental illness. Utopia waits for some in heaven, but it is unattainable here on earth. If it was reachable it would have happened long ago. Genesis pretty much explains it.

It's truly sad that anyone would think respect for diversity and a desire to help others is a mental illness.

While utopia may be impossible to achieve, shouldn't we always strive to get as close as possible?

And while the vision of what constitutes utopia might be very different (for same, religious conservatives versus secular liberals), does that make the pursuit of that ideal less worthy of respect?

Conservatives live in a dream world, they have this vision that everything is just fine and no change is needed. WE Democrats are willing to face facts and live in the real world. In our real world we have to go to work and pay taxes.
Bush and Republicans in Congress have ran up a $9 trillion debt over the next for tax payers. Clinton had a balanced budget all 8 years, Clinton even paid on the debt twice. The occupation of Iraq will cost tax payers $2 trillion over ten years. We Democrats also are the ones who fight and die in Iraq, the Republicans have a long History of sending others to do the dirty work for them, while they stay home and vote for more tax cuts for the wealthy and higher taxes on those that work for a living. BTW, who is Michael Savage?

So MAYBE, the natural state of humanity is survival of the fittest and liberals are trying to get everyone to "progress" to their state of mind.
