God does things on His schedule not ours. Who can explain God other than to say He is an all power full being who loves us enough to allow His Son to die for our sins.

He did it in six days as a way of showing how people should work for their living....you can work 6 days but you need to rest on the seventh day and set it aside as a holy day. He could done everything in one day or one hour but he chose to do it in six days as a condescention to human limitations and understanding and as a way to show he has power over nature---he created light before there was a sun, moon or stars---neat trick but what exactly is light? Is it a wave or a series of particles? If he can create the light beams already moving without a source, then he has mastery over the universe and it's laws. WE know light needs a source but "God is Light" and is not restrained by physical laws---he created them. If the Bible stated that God created things another way, the devil could urge people to disbelieve that he is all-powerful.

Because it's a story.
Like serial movies or comic books, the story is told in parts to enhance the sense of excitement and suspense.
Plus, if it all happened on one day, it would be too much to digest.
Better to break it into a little one day, a little the next, stop and have a soda pop and start again the next day, anyway.
It's a better example so humans don't get overworked.

because He wanted to
and as He made everything His wisdom means that just because you do not understand why, His choice was perfect.,
Consider that He made the environment of the earth perfect in order to sustain life -
equally our working lives require time as we are temporal -
asking why 6 days necessitates looking at how it has affected all of us - we work a 6 day week - we have night and day - we have a 365 day year - all these time relationships balance out our lives -
of course God could have made everything in a nanosecond but God does not live in time - He made time for us - so with light and darkness so we can have day and night -
the Sabbath (the 7th day of rest) was made FOR us - we were not made for it. Christ says so.
Likewise the week was made for us. So we could function in a way that our bodies responded to. We sleep for 8 hours a day. God presumably could have made it so we do not sleep. He made us the way He wanted to. Do you have an alternative week? The French tried a metric week after the Revolution. The spirit of the French Revolution was the Spirit of Antichrist embodied through Republican law - do away with marriage except Republican Marriage (as in the UK today) -QW -
and do away with 24 hour days and 7 day weeks as the only foundational place these are found is in Genesis.
To summarize - He did it that way because He wanted to and He did it so we could function within that time frame.

Time is a creation of man not God.The bible states that on the seventh day God rested. You can't take the bible literally.Usually when you see the number 7 in the bible, its not to denote an amount of time or quanity. Its to signify completion.Something is done or over.

well as we are allegedly made in his image, we now know where procrastination came from.
Also as Martin Luther hadn't showed up yet, He did not have a Protestant work ethic. or He ran a union shop. I could go either way.

This question doesn't make sense...He has "absolute power" everyday and has since the beginning. His plan before it all even started was to give everyone free will. He doesn't want a bunch of mindless robots running around, "I love you God", "I love you God". What fun would that be? He wants to see who will be genuine about their love for Him.

well, if you really read the bible you dont know about literal days becaus there were no people to count them till the very end of the last day, so they could have been god days which are like... 1.2 billion years each?
