I'm in the military. I've been to Iraq. I didn't like it. I don't support the war. But if I didn't go I would go to prison most likely. I didn't pick this fight, George Bush did. I just can't wait to be done in 11 months.

yeah we are being tru to ourselves. its not the soldiers that pick the fights its politicians. I believe you can be against a war because the politics of the whole situation is messed up but still hope the trroops are saafe. I want the best for our troops because they put their lives on the line to protect our country and defend our liberty. They are all heros who deserve the best. ITs not their choice to pick which war they want to fight. its thepoliticians

We learned this lesson after Vietnam.
The soldiers have no choice but to follow orders and to fight. They are serving to defend our country. We have to support their commitment to protect us. We don't have to support the politician's decision to send them to war. They are they ones to blame. a soldier has no choice but to follow the orders of his superiors and in our system our military is controlled by the government; the politicians.
Bush's low approval rating, the lowest for a President since records have been kept, is the proof that we are not supporting his actions to commit the troops and to keep them in Iraq.

Absolutely.
We can easily respect them for doing their duty, and respect their commitment to their profession, and want to support them because of that respect. That has nothing to do with whether we think the orders they are being given are wise or foolish.
Just like you can respect someone's right to speak, and defend that right, even if you disagree with what they are saying.
I think our soldiers are being given foolish orders by a Commander in Sheik who is trapped in his own delusions of grandeur. That doesn't mean I don't respect the soldiers for following those orders to the best of their ability.
They don't get to pick the orders -- they either do their job, or betray their oath of service. I respect that they continue to uphold their oath, even when when the person issuing those orders has betrayed his oath of office.

The amazing thing about our egalitarian government is that the minority opinion can change the majority.
It is our duty to support our country in what it decides to do whether or not we support it. However, it doesn't mean that we can't protest, write our politicians etc to change the course of action the country has taken.
Those armed forces service people are risking and giving up their lives to support your right to protest. They are in harm's way because they see that as their way to support this country.
I think it was Alex de Tocqueville that said " My country, right or wrong, my country". So do what you have to do to protest the direction of the country but make sure you support those who are risking their lives for you to do it.

Yeah, soldiers really don't like people standing behind them, you may want to find some sailors to do that.

Listen you; our military is in Iraq because it's there job.....Were in Iraq because Bill Clinton did not do his job. This is the reason were in the mess today. When the WTC was bombed on FEB. 1993 Clinton had a chance to get bin Laden, but did he? NO he didn't. Because of Clinton we were attacked many times when he was in office, did he protect us? NO he didn't. Bill Clinton is the first President in history to cut the military back so far we had NO protection. When bin Laden called Clinton weak for not fighting back, did Clinton say anything? NO he didn't. On FEB.17,1998 Bill Clinton tells Saddam that if Iraq doesn't rid themselves of weapons of mass destruction, were going to come after him, but did Bill Clinton go after Saddam? NO he didn't. The CIA and FBI warned Clinton of a big attack going to take place in the USA. But did Clinton listen? NO he didn't. Before President Bush was ever sworn in to office, Al Gore deletes important info to be given to Pesident Bush. But did Clinton tell Bush about this important info? NO he didn't.... bin Laden killed many lives on 9/11, but it was Clinton that allowed this to happen by working against the USA!!!

That BS "we support the troops but not the war" is nothing but Liberal smoke and mirrors. Liberals are for a great big welfare state where everybody has the same thing. Wait isn't that communism?
