I plan to go to the Dominican Republic with my best friend, & I'm very obese now, but I wanna be slim & sexy & toned. How long does it take to get physically fit & in shape if I stay dedicated to eating right & exercising?

Is it healthy to exercise every day, or do I have to give some days a rest?

Of course you can. As a matter of fact, when you start losing weight you may find out that you are happy with losing a little less weight. How you look and feel would be better indicators than what the scale reads. YOU CAN DO IT.

I have heard many people say that you cannot work out daily. Your body needs a rest. I don't know if this is true or not but "some" physical activity every day will not hurt at all.

Going on a trip will be a great motivator for you. Good luck.

1 year? You bet you can lose it! Focus, dedication, and motivation. I say first thing is get someone like a friend or family, to help support you by working side-by-side. A personal trainer might cost a lot, but he/she will be the motivation that you need to keep pushing yourself. Friends and family can let emotion get in the way and maybe get irritated or burnt out, but a personal trainer will stay true and even pretend to like you (hehe).

Otherwise you can start eating healthy ASAP, but as far as excercise, start slowly and progress up to more longer and physical workouts. Usually people that see huge results (after the steady increase in workout) excercise at least twice a day.

yes I think you can do it if your commited. do some weight and cardio, eat healthy, alittle protein snack every 3or 4 hrs will keep your metabolizm going if your doing some weights, they dont have to be heavy body training weight just some weight muscle keeps fat away, remember arms one day and legs next day give your body time to recover, eat healthy get a trainer, losing alot of weight can have you look flabby if you dont tone it up. cardio is always good dont overdo about 30-45 minutes on treadmill or jogging whatever you like best. Once your following this you wont want to stop and if you do stop it its hard to get back into. so Have fun with it. And Good Luck !!!! Join a gym or maybe Jenny craig. Or both :)

If you stay motivated for an entire year you would be amazed at the difference you can make in your physique. It is usually a good idea to have at least 1 day of rest per week to give your body a chance to catch up and prevent injuries. If you want to excercise 6 days a week it might be a good idea to alternate days of extended walking with workouts of full body circuit training with light weights. Both will burn tons of fat and calories, while giving your body a chance to recover before doing the excercise again.

I lost 40 lbs in about three years, but that's because of puberty I guess. You can lose the weight if you use a treadmill, replace most of your gaming with DDR, and avoid binging all the time :D. I used to eat like 4 hot pockets at a time and now I don't eat any at all, I replaced it with raisin bran :). Anyone can lose the weight. Do not, I repeat, don't ever work yourself too hard or you can die (I almost did, I did 20 minutes of treadmill @ 3MPH on that bad ozone day, and they said not to work out heavily) Work hard during the week and take a rest during Saturday and sunday, but remember not to overload on junk food during the days off :).

It is VERY unlikely that you will lose 150 lbs in one year. My mother went on a diet a few years ago and lost about 55 lbs in one year.

Every few days, you should have a day of rest between your exercise. If you concentrate hard on your diet and get something accomplished, you can probably lose a good 60 lbs before your vacation.

I used this on nervous students learning to drive.. most turned out great..

I think it would be really hard to lose that much weight in one year, and probably unhealthy. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, its probably wiser to stick to a plan that is reasonable. You will be more likely to stay with your diet this way. If you are dedicated enough, it may be possible.
