Darrell D: Excellent answer.
There is is the moral law, which includes the Ten Commandments and other laws. These laws are indeed mentioned throughout the Bible and in the New Testament.
As you mentioned, the eating of shrimp is a dietary law practiced by pre-Christian Jews.
We follow the moral law, which actually existed before Old Testament Biblical times, and is still in force today.
Jews may or may not observe OT Jewish dietary laws, as they see fit. None of them are binding on Christians. See Paul's letters and epistles in the NT. Jesus Himself said that all food is taken in the same way and is expelled the same way, so no food is really and truly "unclean".

Jesus FULFILLED the Law, but He also changed a couple of things, like the eating thing. He said "It isn't what goes into the mouth that makes one unclean, but what comes out." Since Jesus came, gays can be forgiven of their sins, if they repent. Hence, a WAY OUT had been given to them by God. There wasn't a way out before. God STILL says that homosexualtiy is a SIN. Read Romans Chapter 1 and 1 Cor.6:9,10. Why do you people always miss this part?? God, in His infinite mercy and GRACE has given them a WAY OUT of their sin, just like He has given everyone a way out of their sins. God didn't say, "Ok, everyone who is committing adultery, it's ok to do that now, or everyone who has committed murder can just keep doing it, because 'that's just the way they are, murderers and adulterers'. Did He say that? No. Neither did He say, "Ok, everyone who desires to be in their homosexual lifestyles, just go ahead, because I know you like it, and I wouldn't want to offend you." He doesn't say any of that. Because they are all SINS. GOD HATES SIN, NOT THE SINNER. JESUS ALSO SAID, "GO AND SIN NO MORE." Why?? Because you cannot get into Heaven with sin. God cannot be in the presence of sin. He is HOLY! No one else is. So, only He has the right to say what is acceptable and what isn't. We didn't make it up. It is from God. Try reading the New Testament. There is plenty of evidence that God is against homosexuality, and He still considers it an abomination. But, it doesn't say we can't eat shellfish. Give it up, will ya? Maybe you guys should actually read the entire Bible and STUDY it before you ask these questions, then you would know the answer already. God bless

We are now under the new law that Jesus established. In the New Testament, it still says homosexuality is a sin. Here's a couple quotes for you:
1 Corinthians 6:9 -- 9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
Matthew 7:5 -- You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

If you're going to use the Bible in an argument, please at least have an understanding of the WHOLE thing, and not just the parts that suit you. Many of the laws of the Old Testament were rescinded by parts of the New Testament, including the part on unclean animals.
Since you have a predilection towards using Bible verses in arguments, I will throw a couple back at you.
"For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving." Timothy 4:4
And let us not forget Luke 4:10-11 in which Satan quotes scripture, but takes the words out of context in order to twist them to his own meaning. Like what you're doing.

Why do you say Christians? God is their judge, not me. And shrimp is yummygood! Pass the cocktail sauce. Remember, God declared all things clean in the vision he gave Peter of the sheet of animals that came down from heaven?

As Christians we are no longer under the Law but under grace. The entire purpose of the Law of Moses was to point out to us that we are completely incapable of working our way into heaven, the Law exposes us for what we are - sinners, for all have fallen short of the glory and perfection of God, we have all missed the mark, we have all disobeyed the Law in on way or another without the grace of God and Christs sacrificial death on the cross we would all be destined for hell. Instead of abolishing the Law of Moses Christ came to fulfill it, He in His divine perfection obeyed every part of the Law, and through His sacrificial death we are washed of sin and His perfect fulfillment of the Law is the "Mercy Seat" that rests between us and the holiness of God. Without His death on the cross we would all be destined to live an eternity separated from God. I am a sinner, you are a sinner, all of us our sinners, and if we claim not to be we lie to ourselves and fall even further into sin. The only way to God is through the blood of Christ, we can not get to heaven by keeping the Law because we can not perfectly keep the Law.

Christians are not bound by the dietary requirements of the Mosaic Law. The Bible makes this very clear. However everyone is bound by basic morality.

Eating shrimp is OK now because of Jesus, He said we can eat what we like because it doesn't matter. He wasn't talking about gays when He said "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." He was talking about food. Gays are still wrong because they are disgusting to God and preying on our children.
