First you need to learn how to capitalize and type full words. Then you need to learn the difference between a motorbike and a motorcycle. After that, you may be ready to apply to the police academy. I doubt you could find two departments with the same rules about assigning officers.

First of all, they are motorcylcles not motor bikes..Every department and state are different, but you may want to brush up on the language and spelling skills as they ( the D.A. ) and your Cheif of Police, or the Sheriff of a dept. won't want someone who is not competant enough to spell or use the english language to a somewhat higher level of intelligence. Not trying to be mean..just letting you know that you really need to know your stuff..Wish you luck if you join the academy...

Frankly, I would rather drive in a unit all day, and ride my motorcycle for pleasure. Spending that much time during a shift on two wheels doesn't appeal to me. As a biker, I don't want to mix the two, work is work, play is play. And you don't have to join the department to ride "motors"

As stated already every agency is different. Where I used to work it was three years to get a specialized duty.

Every agency is different.
In my agency you have to have a minimum of four years on the street before you can apply to be on the motor unit.
