I want to take it to increace my height, im thinking of taking one that also gives vitamin d and magnesium with it, I dont think i get my full serving of dairy products a day. I was thinking of taking zinc instead or with, i do stretches, yoga but i doubt they do much. Im doubtful about the growth hormone medicine, im 5 5" i want to gain a couple of inches before my bones stop growing at 25.

take a multi-vitamin. Taking extra calcium will not help you taller.

Why do you think you need calcium supplements? Do you have osteophoris or did your mother? How old are you? Calcium is one of many important minerals but you don't want to just blindly swallow a bunch. Plus it can't be absorbed properly without the presence of other certain minerals, including magnesium, and sunlight. Some of the claims by calcium advocates have been proven false recently. I think it's not a bad idea to get a general multi-vitamin with minerals, and then focus on eating a good diet (no substitute for that). Plus exercise does more to keep your bones strong than calcium tablets and/or hormone supplements combined. Good luck.

Calcium is always good for you, unless you're taking too much of it. I would go ahead and just buy them yourself. Women especially need extra calcium. I take (or try to when I can) 1000mg daily, but I have to take it with food or I'll get sick. If you think you don't want to start out with that much, try less and work your way up. Also, I don't know if you drink milk, (I don't really) but that helps too. Here is a good website with calcium supplements and other vitamins if you're interested. I buy mine from here. http://www.altrumonline.com/redirect.cgi?zo=1463115&page=altrumstore/duc

your physcian should know of any supplements you take so she/he could evaluate any possible interactions with other medications. aside from that, check with him regarding the need for additional calcium, if not needed use your resources in a different manner. the doc doesn't need to prescribe these but might suggest them if she/he feels the need for add'l calcium for you

You don't need a prescription for calcium supplements.
