Okay, I've got this huge wart on my thumb, It's really annoying.
I've tried Compound W, and it doesn't work. I mean it does, It's just that Right after it's gone, It comes back again.

I was also wondering how people got warts, like what's the cause?

Thank you soooo much!

Warts are a Virus that you can get from pretty much anything that was touched by another person with a wart or touching someone elses wart (on accident maybe). My hubby got rid of his by burning it off with a soldering gun and it worked great. Painful, but they're gone for good.

There are many alternative therapies out there to try and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. A great starting place is a bit of research and I can suggest Wikipedia. Type this into Google and there you will be able to view many alternatives to Cryosurgery (Freezing the wart off). How long have you tried over the counter medicines as some can take at least 12 weeks, it really is a question of perseverance! I wish you luck!

I think ExtraEx explained it quite well; salicylic acid is the usual thing to use but you must keep applying it every day for a couple of weeks after the wart has gone to completely kill it off.

Another remedy is to put a piece of duct-tape over the affected area; it's a very cheap method and surprisingly effective - the skin will soften (like when your skin prunes when you've been in water for too long) and the wart will be drawn out.

Warts are caused by a virus. Once you get one, the virus stays with you. They can be a pain in the neck to get rid off and can come back repeatedly.

You can use the salicylic acid like Compound W. It works best when covered. Then scrap off any white, dead tissue and do it again until it is dead. You can freeze them off, cut them off, or acid them off, but they may come back until your body finally puts up a defense.

They are viral in nature and contagious, meaning about 2/3 of the population has them at some point and that washing your hands and keeping your bare feet off doctor office, gym and pool floors is a great plan.

Your doctor can treat them as well using the methods above.

Hope this helps.

freeze it.. is the only way that I know that works! I had one in one of my fingers and it wouldn't go away.. or it kept coming back.. so I used acid to burn it off but I must say it was very painful and once it went away I kept burning it just in case... thank god it never came back and it didn't leave a scar.. so it worked for me....
I don't remember the name of it but I got it at Walgreen's... over the counter...

good luck

=)
