It's about intent. I think that if you believe it is wrong to curse, it matters not what the form of communication is.
It looks like you are just looking for a loophole to get away with something and want someone to give you permission to absolve you of responsibility for your actions.

Certain profanity is acceptable in novels and short stories. Nevertheless, the author should use some decorum in how he writes his stories--not relying on curse words to make an impact.
Naturally, curse words are often used in character dialogue. Whether it is a sin for a writer to use them that way is between the writer and God.
I believe it is always best to avoid profanity whenever possible. Such does not improve a person's morals or character.

No, "curse words" have no meaning outside how they are used, therefore not a sin. The only sin would be Using the Lord's name in vain like the blasphemer a few posts up.
It is much worse to cause someone anger or hurt, even if you don't use "curse words".

Curse words are just words. The Bible says to not take the Lord's name in vain. It didn't say anything about thou shalt not curse. Cursing is not a sin as far as I know. It's just not very nice. Taking the Lord's name in vain, is a whole different thing.

The sin is not actually the word, put the thought behind it. Words convey what is in our hearts. They keyboard merely offers a different medium apart from speaking. Too many people fixate on actual "swearing" instead of getting to the root of the matter and adjusting their heart attitude. They will smugly and self-righteously proclaim that they do not swear, while looking down on those who still use such language. In most cases, swearing is the demonstrative result of improperly handled frustration, anxiety, anger, bruised pride , etc. With a lot of work, you could * stop * saying the words, but has your heart attitude really changed?

Just the mere thought of cursing someone is already a sin. I guess it's the same thing as having lustful thoughts about someone else's partner is already considered adultery even if you havent committed the act.

No - I know plenty of Christian books which have typed them out for teaching purposes. They do this to illustrate what constitutes a curse, their nature and possible effects, and how to deal with them.

What are you thinking while you are typing?
Gen 6:5 And the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

I don't believe swearing is a sin. Besides what would it matter if typing or saying or screaming or singing or signing?....it all has the same intent.
Peace

I believe the sin is primarily one of intention: If you say it and mean to say it - it is sinful. If you say it unintentionally - it is not sinful. If you write it with the intention to do so - it is sinful. If you write it purely as a typographical error - it is not sinful.
