does the accounting major require alot of math?

It is mostly addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The real hard part is know when to do what. Accounting is like learning a whole new set of rules (ie memorizing and applying formulas and classifying numbers).

Not very sophisticated math; it is mostly arithmetic, but you are dealing with numbers all the time. If you are a numerophobe, accounting would not be for you.
