As a Catholic, I believe what the Church teaches.
Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html
Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.
While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:
Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

With love in Christ.

The only true church is that in Jesus Christ.
I think the pope's statement shows that even the pope is human and is capable of letting his mouth get him into trouble.

Yes I agree but not the same way the Pope is stating it. LOL. I believe that ALL those who believe in Jesus Christ and serve Jesus Christ and live by his teachings are of the ONE TRUE CHURCH. It doesn't matter if you are Catholic, Baptist, Methodis, Presbyterian, Pentecostal or whatever ever other Christian denomination out there, as long as you believe, trust in and correct serve Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, than you are of the ONE TRUE CHURCH. By the way, LOL, as a Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, Mormon and ALL OTHER DENOMINATIONS, they will say they are the true belief.

No. I'm Buddhist, I was baptized Catholic, became a Buddhist at 26, still Buddhist.
There's Judaism, Hinduism, any range of Protestants, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, among others. The Pope is full of beans. Remember he's the one who told John Paul II the accusations of sexual abuse are over acting.

I'm a devout Catholic, and I can't believe he said that, but it's nothing new he wrote that back in 2000. He should remember he is only an interim pope.
