Who the heck is the Pope he thinks he is? Conquering the world again like they did in Mid Eval times? He declared a theoretical document as church official document. Stating the the Catholic Church is the only true Christian Church.
It's the same with the Mormon Church who proclaims We are the true church of Jesus Christ latter Da Saints.
Is the same with the Muslim Alah is the only true one.
Heck where will the rest of us be? Lutherans, Buddhists, Aethists, Jews, and other religious backgrounds?
I am so sick of such irr reconsiable differences. What is your perspective?

Giggly, this has absolutley nothing to do with hate. This is just an open dialogue to see what other's might think about being erased as the "untrue full Christian churches." I find it interesting that people think this is hate. This isn't hate. This an open faith discussion. Thank Goodness for the Freedom of Speech here in the USA. However, the Catholic Church has been opressing Christianity for most of the European history. Go back to the Mideval times here the popes tried to pull tricks on people to convert them. Or took away their lands and thats how the church became so rich! I think we must be doing more thinking of what really church doctrine is. Not to be blindfolded and pulled into that grab!

Ihalmiut is right....this man needs to be retired. Or held as a heretic or something. How big of an idiot do you have to be to release such a statement. I think it's funny he is saying things like this and the LA archdiocese has to shell out 600 MILLION dollars to over 500 boys and girls they raped...i mean i know there are bad people involved in lots of stuff...but raping little children, praying to dead mortal people, and the priest that just raped you, well hes forgiving you and himself of sins.
A comedian named Bill Burr said it best, " The catholic church is the only business in the world that could rape small children and it be OK and business continue on like usual"
just one more thing to add to the list of stupid things the catholic church does/says

He is merely setting the stage for the final act of the great Roman Catholic hoax. Contrary to the myth re-hashed here, Rome was not the spiritual descendant of Yashua, how could it be, Rome was the very entity he was trying to expunge from the Jewish homeland ? The Peter-Petrus-Rock chestnut was a figment of Paul's imagination, taken up by, and embellished upon by Constantine. The true leadership passed to Y'acov, better known as James the Just, the Teacher of Righteousness. He was murdered in the temple in 67 'ad', probably by the agents of Paul.
So no, there is no direct line of 'succession' to Yashua through Peter. And everything else has been a gigantic, cruel and malicious 'fix' to hold the mass of the world's population in subjection to the forces of power and control.
However, there is 'light', much light, at the end of the tunnel. It has been predicted that this Pope-manque, Nazi and Inquisitionist, is the penultimate occupant of the Petran commode, and that only one more will be elected, the one that eventually admits the truth about the whole sorry charade.
The Nag Hammadi texts and the Dead Sea Scrolls were the beginning of the end, as the vicous fight to prevent their publication attests.
If necessary there could be 6 billion 'true' churches on this planet, indeed, in a sense, there are. Every single one of us has the sovereign right declare our own truth, the only real 'heresy' is the pronouncement of 'heresy' !

This isn't really new, either. Growing up Methodist, our apostles creed stated that the Catholic church was the one true church, and we were united and universal under it. And we RECITED it every Sunday. Okay, that's about 30 years ago, so that you can get the context of what I'm saying.
Yes, I questioned it. NO, I didn't get an answer from the minister worth remembering, much less repeating. He tried.
In other words, this is rotating information on a turnstile. Waiting for fresh blood to keep it glowing and alive. I would recommend not being sucked into thinking that the pope has any true power here.

I am 20 years old and Catholic. Ya you can definitely get some mean ones who call themselves "Christians", but for the most part we are really friendly. Do not be scared that your not baptized, Catholics offer PSR classes for teenagers where you can go through the sacraments of initiation. Also, if you are older you can take part in RCIA classes which will get you acquainted with the Church. Your making a great selection. I love everything about the Catholic church from worshiping Mary, God, Jesus, the Saints, etc. It is nice to give praise to all different people who brought Jesus into the world and all the saints who died for their own faith. Good Choice and Good Luck with everything. God Bless Your Heart! :-) :-)

Go to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Orthodox_Church
and see that the catholic church became independant at the great shism
In 2004, Pope John Paul II extended a formal apology for the sacking of Constantinople in 1204; the apology was formally accepted by Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholic_Church
i.e. the leader of the Eastern Orthodox Churches
I suggest for the sake of God and mankind
that Catholic hierarchy find what it means to be humble
or does the vatican believe that it was Gods will at the time to sack a whole city where the seat of the eastern orthodox chuch (original sister /or the main branch of christianity) existed.(Constantinople)
All leaders of all religions seem to have lost their way
History proves that errors were made by men who claimed at the time to be spokesmen for God and life was made worthless
The Popes idea that is reported here if true
i.e. that they are the first or the best
as far as i am concerned is starting to make me feel embarrassed to feel a christian and concerned at how easy history is rearranged to suit a function that is starting to resemble a proffessional casino operation or a medicine manufacturing concern
I the people...... take that authority away from all of them ...and seek God through knowledge and enlightenment which includes all religions and all theories including evolution ,because those that represent religion on earth seem to have lost their way.

My though is that you let anger and hate fuel your fire based off rumor.
First, the "Pope" didn't outright declair war on Christians with this. The Pope actually didn't say anything. The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith did.
in dialoge to maintain the Asian Churches that have separated from the Church.
Read the whole source before you buy into this hate that your spreading without knowledge.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html
Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.
While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:
Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 819: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.htm#819
With love in Christ.

Honey, every religion has the "we are the only one" doctrine. If you're not Catholic, why do you care what the Pope says. If a Jewish Rabbi or Muslim Iman or Luthren Priest stood up tomorrow and declared that their religion was the right one, and they have doctrine to prove it, so what! Does that change your life? Probably not.
All the Pope did was reconfirm what his faith believes. As I said, if a Jewish Rabbi or what-have-you did the same thing, would you be this frothy at the mouth? They all have that doctrine too. No one wants to be wrong.

While I am not a religious person, the Catholic church is the original Christian church. All other Christian faiths broke away from the Catholic religion. So, I can see why the Pope would say that the Catholic church is the only Christian church. In his opinion, everyone else broke ranks with the Catholic church at some time or another.
Can any other church trace its roots to Jesus' disciples?

There are many Churches, but only the Church of Jesus Christ is made up of a body of saved believers. This Church uses scripture as its authority and Jesus as its head.
I am not reffering to any specific building that may have this name on its door: Church of Jesus Christ
