Get a myspace. They said people get kidnapped, raped, and stalked. This is true, but the people this happens to give out personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, ages, schools, states, towns, etc. I wouldn't put any personal info and won't accept anyone I don't know as a friend and they still won't let me. What are some websites that give articles explaining that only people that give personal info can get stalked! If you don't give information, then people can't find you! And please, don't respond if you are just going to tell me not to get a myspace and all that stuff. Thanks in advance!!!!

I am almost 16 years old. I only have a couple friends that actually use e-mail, so what's the point of that? And some people said to go out and roller blade, swim, etc. but I am on club soccer and I practice every day for 4 hours plus track practice and I swim..so the computer is my relaxtion time, where I have a couple minutes to update my myspace and that's all. My parents won't even let me show them a friend's myspace. They are so set on their answer. Ahhhh, I'm so annoyed lol.

Have you offered to let them moniter it and give them the password? Try that. Also agree to make it private.

There is no information on myspace that a person can get to come after you. You would have to devulge that information for someone to know where you live. You are right as far as your information. Why not show your parent someone's profile, and let them see for themselves that it is ok. also let them know that you are not stupid enough to give someone your information. I think myspace is a great way to keep in touch with old, and new friends. There are some people that try to send you junk, but just like you said you don't have to accept them. What is your age? Maybe that is why they are trippin. Show them what myspace is like, and hopefully they will come with the times

If you put up your picture they can still find you if they know you. My mom told me the same thing and I thought exactly like you, but instead of getting mad at it you should appreciate that they are trying to protect you. I am going to come off of myspace soon because it really isn't all that great, people look at your information even if you don't your friends will ,even if you might have not given it away you. Friends can give your information about you even if you say don't.

I used to have a myspace but its getting old I deleted mines I thought it was a waste of time. Maybe you want to look at it that way and your parents are concern about your safety, but if you really want to have it for your friends and things you should talk to them in a mature fashion and I'm sure the will understand. Good Luck!

My space can have some pretty explicit stuff on it for sure. If your parents won't let you do it, not much you can say. Best to just except that you can't, and find something else to do. If you get a my space you will be spending way too much time sitting in front of the computer, when you could be out doing something, like going to the movies, out to eat, roller blading, bike riding, bowling.........the list goes on. You are young take advantage of it, do something, besides the computer.

Well, I don't know any articles/websites, but your parents are only protecting you. The world has changed...there is always a way to find out information. It's their job to protect you. You may not see it now but once you mature a litlle you will see why they care so much. Hopefully you can appreciate that they care for you and not get mad. It may be the cool thing right now..give it time it'll fade.

i had a myspace but got bored of it

i know some of myfriends had theirs programmed to accept friends that knew answer to her security questions which were "to be this persons friend u must either type in her email address or last name then she had to approve them. tell ur parents to look at the cases were ppl were raped or killed, tell them to trust u that u have enough sense to know not to go giving ur personal info to a complete stranger, u can also block ur page which means only ur friends can view ur page and strangers only see ur profile pic and user name
