Don't bring another dog in the house period unless the puppy is COMPLETELY vaccinated. Parvo can kill dogs up to age 2. The virus survives in your house for a year and in the ground forever.

I have had some experience with this. I got a puppy and he was doing fine when we got him home during the night he got sick. In the morning I took him to the Vet and he had Parvo. I took him back to the breeder, found out later he survived. Anyway I also had two other dogs, 4 and 5 years old, that had all their shots. I could not bleach the carpets and furniture where the puppy had been. My other two dogs are still doing great. I waited 7 months and got another puppy and he 4 years old now. The older dog should be OK if it has had all its shots.

The main thing is making sure the dog is fully vaccinated. If you're unsure you can have him tested to see if he's immune to parvo or not. I'd say go ahead and get the dog though, you are just supposed to wait a long time with puppies under 6 months.

As long as the dog is fully vaccinated, you have nothing to worry about. Parvo is mostly a puppy virus, but I have seen some older dogs come in that have it only because they have never had a vaccination for it in their lives.

Do you have other dogs? Have you cleaned your home while the dog was being treated? If there are no other dogs that have been infected and your house has been cleaned and your dog has been treated and released by your vet then by all means bring the dog home.

If the dog has completed it's vaccinations, then there should be no problem.
Parvo can stay in your yard for almost a year.
