when I recorded my BP 3-4 times on free BP checking machine in the superstore I found that my systolic bp dropped by almost 40 points at the 4th observation within few minutes. My readings were 183/87, 149/88, 150/90 ,142/84.
What is my correct BP? Why there is so much difference in readings within few minutes. Is the superstore or pharmacy shop machine reliable?

Many things can chage your blood press reading.
Did you use the same machine each time?
What was your activity level between readings?
The first reading you mention seems a little (a lot?) out of line.
Was that taken shortly after you walked into the store? The exertion from just walking can temporarily raise your blood pressure.

The other three readings are close enough that I believe they were problably correct. Your blood pressure can change from minute to minute.

those machines are notoriously unreliable. And if you take a blood pressure several times in succesion, it will always seem to drop, you've compressed the veins and arteries, so you aren't getting a normal flow anymore by the third or fourth time. The best time to get a blood pressure is first thing in the morning.

The machine may not be functioning well, but your normal Blood Pressure is 120/80. Yours is very high and you should talk to your doctor. Please, it is important. Blood Pressure is more important than cholesterol or other things. Call Monday for an appointment! Good luck!

ur blood pressure is suspose to go up an down with ur activity. if u rise from a chair ur bp will go up to meet the need of blood to the brain and other parts of the body. if ur bp didnt go up, u would pass out. while resting, ur bp can drop as low as in the 40 on bottom and top as low as 90. normal bp in a person is around 120 over 70. hi bp is 140 over 90. god bless

your blood pressure fluctuates within a few mm Hg depending on your stress level and activity naturally, and I wouldnt rely on a grocery store machine, machines that measure biological markers need to be calibrated daily and often more than that and my bet is that drug/grocery store machines are no where near that.

when used continuosly, i have heard, that electronic BP machines do give out inconsistent readings. and besides posture and activity prior to the measurement also influence the readings. sitting posture gives the most reliable readings on a traditional mercury sphygmomanometer.

From what I've heard they are not really accurate.
