I don't have a lot of details, because I was just told by my mom that my cat apparently threw up last night some time. Should I be concerned? Or is this ok every once in a while? We've had Remy for 3 weeks as of tomorrow. He hasn't thrown up before while we've had him. He seemed pretty normal last night. And seems fine today. I don't know if this will help any but he is a 3 year old Domestic Short Hair Grey Tabby.

He might just have eaten something round the house that got stuck in his throat and made him sick. It happens to my cat sometimes. He's a monster for eating the house plants and that always makes him sick!

If you have ruled out hairballs and change in diet(give it a week or so to resolve) then try cleaning the cat box more often. Fastidious cats will not use the litter box if it has any feces in it. This will cause some cats to hold off defecating for long periods of time and cause the vomiting. A medical condition that arises from a dirty litter box is called megacolon. Google it.

If it was only once you shouldn't be too concerned. If it happens again soon try fasting the cat for 24 hours (don't worry, it won't die) but leave water out. Give the cat a worming tablet while its fasting. I work at a vet clinic and this is the first thing we do when a cat vomits. If the vomiting persists after fasting, definately see your vet.

It could be just a hairball or maybe something he ate. If he keeps throwing up, get him checked out. If he stops, then he should be fine. Hairballs are common in cats. If it's a hairball, a bit of butter helps slide things along. Also a tiny bit of vaseline; I've used it on my cats for raw spots and my vet said it's totally fine if they lick it off.

It is possible she is eating too fast. Watch to see if she is 'scarfing'. She may be allergic to one of the ingredients. Also, check to be sure she is using the litter box as often as the other cat. She may be getting clogged up from the new food. It may be that her system hasn't reacted well to the swap and needs to ease back into the dry food. If so, go back to the soft food for a few days, then start transitioning her back to the dry food by mixing a small amount of it in the soft food, gradually increasing the ratio of dry to moist until she is completely back to all dry food.

cats often get hair balls and throw them up. also, if they eat something they shouldn't have like a plant, rubber band, hair tie, paper, licking pictures... it can cause them to throw up. as long as it's only once or twice and you don't keep finding long or sharp random pieces in the puke, your cat should be ok. also, as cats get older, they will have hairballs more frequently. their bodies have a harder time digesting and coping with the fur. try petromault if puking become frequent. you can get it at any pet store. most cats love the way it tastes, they think it's a treat.

He just might have a hairball. There are products for hairballs in the pet store it won't hurt to try. If he continues to throwup go to the vet.

i could have been a hair ball or he could have eaten too fast. My cat is little older and she occasionally will throwup. If he stops eating, drinking, or going to the bathroom you should take him to the vet. Or if he continues to throw up continually.

It could be a hairball the cat is throwing up or a change in his diet.
