I have an extremely fast 94 mustang gt conv (330 HP). It has 135,000 miles on it and its my weekend car. I just CANT resist smashing in it everytime im in it (plus Im 19). My question is, is it really bad for my car if I drive it really hard for a 20 minutes, 3 days a week? Also, is it bad to redline the car often (RPM)?

I have noticed that people dont bash other cars for no reason unless they are jelous of that car. If they really didnt car they would just not comment on the car at all. To Jonny, you still have no answer for the kenne bell cobras, they are faster, cost less, and are more reliable then the vettes and masarati's. It is not "really bad" to drive your car hard but it does put additional wear and tear on your vehical and shorten the life of its engine. I would imagine though that 20 min 3times a week of hard driving is no worse then 5 days a week hour to work and hour home in rush hour driving.

i have a 92 lx 5.0 170k with about 450 hp to the wheels. i take it to the track drive it hard (where its not endangering others) yes ,you can drive it hard its a mustang ''the cheap car''(like the guy said ) that's just it , its 1/4 price of a vette .lets not talk about the price of a Maserati (that was pushing me to race i put 7 car lengths in front ) by the way have you seen a Maserati with 170k on the original motor
don't get me wrong i love all cars but don't knock someones Else's fun . a little bit of work can make a it a very fast sport car .take care of it like you love it ,drive it like you hate it .but respect its power

You would want the engine up to normal operating temperature first. Car engines are made to operate up to the red line speed. It won't do any damage, as long as you don't exceed the red line, but it will cause more wear, and it is harder on the engine. So expect less reliability from the engine but as long as you don't hold the red line for long periods of time, you'll be OK.

You are definately going to shorten the life of your car's components by driving it as hard as it can go all the time and red lining. Not to mention traffic tickets and accidents. So I would say yes it is bad, I mean really bad.

Driving it hard...no thats not bad.... the engine is built to handle it. Bad to redline the car..... dont go over the redline or you will blow it up.

how come people who drive mustangs are incappable of driving like a normal person? everytime i see a mustang their trying to smoke everyone on the road. why don't you get a real sports car like a corvette or a masarati then you can drive like bad a$$.
some mustang's do look good but there really just cheap sports cars for people who can't afford the real thing.

Of course it's hard on it, that's why they rebuild race engines after every race
