My new Dell computer came with Windows Vista. While I liked the look of Vista and some of the other features, the OS always seemed to be kind of clunky. I formatted my hard drive and installed XP about three weeks ago and haven't regretted my "downgrade" for a moment.

I'm curious to know if others have had a similar experience.

The general rule with Windows OS's is to avoid the first release of any new system, wait until the Second Edition or at least a couple of Service Packs are released before switching from an already-good system to the new one. For example, Win 98 wasn't as good as the most recent version of Win 95, Win XP wasn't as good as Win 98SE, and from everything I've read, it seems Win Vista isn't as good as Win XP SP2. I got that last OS just before Vista was released, and I'm glad for the timing.

Hell, I went back to XP after trying Mac OS X! I just have too much stuff and don't want more bells and whistles, just want a solid, abundant system to get done what I need.

I'm thinking eventually OS X will have enough base for the little appz I need to start being available, but for now, my solutions are still coming from the XP wagon.

Forget Vista. I have absolutely NO interest in it.

I have 4 computers, 1 has Vista, the rest have XP. Vista has compatibility problems, so it's been a learning experience. I prefer XP.

A lot of people are doing the same thing my friend, I believe that vista was a little ahead of it's time to be released. But when your primary goal is to make money and not help people actually be productive this is what you get. Try Linux, their philosophy is completely different, they actually care about YOU!

It is pretty popular.
There aren't enough changes in Vista, and XP is generally the best OS.

Software support is terrible as well, as is security

I've seen Vista and have a friend who has it on his computer. To be honest, I'm not all that crazy about it. Give me good old XP anyday.

Sorry i know this isnt relevant to the question but im guessing it depends on your ram memory if it can cope with vista or not (excuse my diversion)
