What is the nicest public beach in New Jersey?

Not anything too crowded, if possible. I will be going on a weekday (Wednesday, most likely). "Things to do" nearby is not really an issue.

If you are willing to travel all the way to southern NJ, Wildwood Park. Up north, the beaches are crowded.
