you have to do anything to distract the reflex. My best cures have always been: plugging your ears while concentrating on slowly counting to 20, swallowing a spoonful of something granulated, like sugar. And my most effective: take a mouthful of liquid, bend over so your head is near your knees and almost upside down, then concentrate on swallowing so it doesn't go up your nose. I've also heard of thinking of a word, like "cow", then picture the word, spell it in your head, spell it backward, forward, upside down, picture the object, just concentrate of visualizing it as much as possible, and by the time you're done, you're hiccups are gone.

There are no true cures for hiccups, which is a spasm of your diaphragm (the muscle that controls your breathing) but I swear by holding my breath for as long as I can between each hiccup.

fill a dixie cup with water cover your ears with your index fingers, and at the same time drink the water. works for me

Hold your nose, and drink some water really slowly... it helps me. You might feel that your ears are closed up, but it works...

take as deep a breath as you can and hold it. turn your head as far to one side as you can while holding your breath and count back from 20. give that a try and let me know
