I would call your local vet and have her examined. She may be sick & needs to be checked. Hope she is doing better.

Cats are cats and unique creatures. There could be a number of reasons why she is sleeping there. Fleas could be one and so could loneliness, or any other one. I would make sure that she does not have the fleas, especially if she is an outdoor kitty. Even indoor kitties can get fleas that come in from the outside on humans shoes and clothing. I would also spay her if she can still get pregnant unless you are specifically using her for breeding purposes in order to sell her kittens. Cats that go into heat often can develop other problems so if she is just a pet, she needs to be spayed for her health. If you don't have a good warm bed for her to sleep in, she may be trying to keep her own heat in her body and feels the liter is a good sourse for a heat reflector. Stress can definitely make a cat's nature change and losing her kittens will cause stress. Stress can also cause a change in a cats temperature. Cats temps are already above our own by several degrees. Their normal is 101.2 to 102 usually. That is why you see them laying in the sun all the time especially if you keep your own home temperatures set at a cooler temperature in the winter or have air conditioning in the summer. For that reason, I always buy lined warm fleece or fur simulated sheep wool beds with good high sides on them. They help them retain their body heat. That may be your kitty's problem.

I worked at a vet hospital the beginning of this year and I found an injured cat. I would take it to work with me every day so I could check up on it throughout the day and give it medical attention. As soon as she was put in the cage she would act as if the litter box was her bed... But when we got home she would sleep on the bed..

My youngest cat does this from time to time when she isn't feeling well. I've never figured out why but she's been doing it for years and she's very healthy. I wouldn't worry too much, just make sure the litterbox is kept very clean to insure she doesn't soil her coat. It is possible the litterbox could've retained the scent of her kittens and she finds it comforting to sleep there. If you suspect that is the problem try completely cleaning out her box and putting in fresh litter.

i have a cat that liked to eat litter. he's just a kitten that's one month old. But then when he saw his ''mommy" use the litter box he actually stopped doing that!
(I have a big cat and two kittens, I just couldn't separate them)
I think you should call the vet because she might be just deppressed. When the mommy cat can¨t find her kittens in the house she just starts like crying

If you just found homes for her babies, she could be a bit depressed actually. I've heard of kittens doing that. Cats too but only when confined to a cage like at a pet store or shelter where there's not much room.
Call your vet and ask their advice.

The only time I ever had a cat do that he was sick. I guess that is were he chose to die. I saved his life. He wouldn't eat or drink and we were snowed in (believe it or not in Austin, TX.). I fed him chicken broth then graduated to my babies food (veal). After the snow cleared I took him to the vet and found out he'd had a severe sinus infection. The vet said I couldn't have done a better job and that the worst of it was over. Cat's have to think of unusual things to get their owners attention don't ignore their odd behaviors.
