Safe mode WinXP !!! help?

Question

Hey i think i got a virus inbeded in system 32 and need to boot in in safe mode so i can scan for it
except wen i choose safe mode
it asks me to log on as usual
then it comes up with a window about specilist tools i think
and ask if i wish to continue
but either way it doesnt boot up and just has "safe mode" in all corners and is just a black screen
and i can't press or click anything
all i can do is turn it off
What can i do to get the safe mode working or get into my computer's system 32 and delete this file

You may have a boot sector virus. Since it would involve back and forth interaction to remedy, something that YA doesn't really support, I would suggest you join one of the tech groups below. Their forums will allow follow-up instructions and postings in the same thread.

When I go into Safe Mode, I click Start, Restart and immediately press and hold down the F8 key. If you wait for all lights to stop blinking, then press the appropriate key (probably F3), you should get into Safe Mode.

If you are having difficulty, are you logging in as administrator?
