My license was suspended in May 2005 for 1 year in WA. I received a document from WA DMV stating the suspension ceased in May 2006. To reinstate my license I need to file for SR22. I have not reinstated my license and since moved to the state of CA. In addition the license that was suspended and punched as also since expired. So when requesting an insurance quote do i tell the agent my license is A) suspended B) don't have one C) expired?

In addition I have transferred my insurance coverage to the state of CA. To get a license here will I still need SR22? How will my insurance or the CA state DMV know that I will require SR22 filing?

Anyone with an insurance or licensing background may know exactly what I'm talking about.

you need a sr 22 in ca anyway, so if wa has a hold on it, send them a copy, all will be well,go for expired, but the agent will find out the particulars anyway,so dont expect any good rates

Your Wa license is still suspended until you provide proof of SR22 filing. Since you moved to Ca, you will have to take the written an drive test, since the Wa license expired. You will be required to have the SR22 in Ca, whatever rules/regulations you had to follow in Wa, will carry over to Ca. The agent will know you are suspended in Wa, because all states databases are connected, so suspension/revokation in one state, is suspension in all states. You will need to show the license with the punch hole in it, along with other proofs of i.d. and residence. The SR22 will need to be carried for a period of three yrs, contact an agent in Ca for your rates and how to get the insurance, you'll need this filed before you apply for a license in Ca.

Email Jeannie Mucklestone - Seattle's top traffic / ticket attorney - this is probably an easy question that she can answer ..if not - she would do it pretty reasonable ..
