my son was playing with one of his cars and decided to use the screen of my LCD TV as a race course. At first I never thought he'd done any damage to it, but after a few hours a green mark appeared on the screen and is gradually starting to spread. What started off as a green mark the size of a 5pence coin has spread to the size of a couple of inches. Is my telly ruined or is there a way that can prevent the mark getting bigger or better still getting rid of it completely?

ouch thats one hell of an expensive race course, it's going to have to be replaced. As the screen is a sealed unit, it cannot be repaired. Hope that you took out the shops accient cover?.
Sorry to give you the bad news.

Unless you have a warranty that covers accidental damage (most don't), you will probably need to buy a new one, as the lcd screen is the most expensive piece of the television.

You could always check with the manufacturer, who may be able to give you an estimate of cost, and then you can decide if it is more cost-effective to pay for shipping there/ repair / shipping back, or just buy a new BETTER one.

Unfortunately LCD screens do not like PRESSURE on them.

That little car put serious pressure on the membrane and damaged it.
And the cost of a new LCD display is the SAME or MORE than the whole TV set...

I know, I had to replace one....
You're not the only one that learned the hard way....

Sorry but you need a new screen. The liquid is seeping out and it will only spread. It will be expensive, but you don't say how big or how old the set is. I would get a couple of estimates first, preferably one from where you got it.

Sometimes the old technology is the best. At least you can polish out scratches on a CRT!

The lcd screen was cracked and needs to be repaired.
You are better oof buying a new one, rather than getting it fixed.
