You didn't say what "know good reason" is? Is "no good reason" being one day late? Is "no good reason" being one month late? Is "no good reason" being one year late?
Sears would not send you to a collection agency unless you were a lot more than 60 days late. If you really think you've been wronged by Sears, pay the bill to the collection agency in full, and write Sears a letter saying you'll never enter one of their stores again.

Sears (as well as other large retailers) do not send folks to collection agencies 'for no good reason". You apparently did not pay them as agreed, and waited long enough that they decided a collection agency was the only way for them to get their money.
If you think this is still "no good reason", you're going to have to work with Sears to get this fixed. Don't hold your breath waiting unless it truly WAS an error on Sears' part.

Once you have paid them what you owe them, you can work with them towards repairing your credit.

Why wouldn't they do it, you obviously didn't pay for something you should have. But like he said, pay it off, then get it fixed.
