It says that place is in Arlington. They claim to be about self-defense as well. They don't make you pay for belt tests either. They seem legit to me.

Hi there

There are currently only 3 organisations that teach authentic ninjutsu they are the bujinkan, genbukan and Jinenkan. Most people will recommend the Bujinkan because this organisation is run by the current grandmaster Hatsumi. The other two organisations are run by high ranking shians that decided to leave the bujinkan to form their own organisations. There is the Stephen Hayes quest centres that you may want to try. But from personal experience I would seek out a good shidoshi who is registered with either the Bujinkan or Jinenkan.

You would be better off asking questions about this subect on kutaki no Mura but make sure they are sensible questions and not school boy stuff as this site is run and visited by some of the world’s top shihans. It’s better to drop the name ninjutsu and use budo taijutsu as you will get more respect from others.

This is a real art just like jujutsu or aikido and consists of traditional kata from 6 ryu ha including weapons. There is also a medicine component called Amatsu that can be studied.

We only practice escape patterns from togakure ryu ninjutsu called santo tonka no kata and ninja biken kata.

All the sneaking around stuff has no practical use today and is not taught to the general public but you can still be read about it as it goes by the title of goton no jutsu. Most serious students arn't really too bothered about the ninjutsu aspects of training yet it seems to be what attracts the most attention.

This art is very misunderstood by most people due to how it's been represented over the years. Which is a shame because it's a real art that consists of two Koryu schools plus the rest that make up the core of what is Budo taijutsu. Its not a sport it's kobudo and is taught as such.

You wont get much serious answers from people on here escpecially other martial artists as most know very little about the schools we study .

Best bet is to try Kutaki and ask someone on there who may know of a school in your area.

Ask the right people the right sort of questions and you will get the answers your looking for. :-)

Black masks and throwing stars it ain't!

Best wishes and good luck

Idai

no you really need to find a school. Only thing good for online videos is to refresh your memory on techniques you can't learn anything online. Several reasons come to mind why. One being you always need a partner. And two you need an instructor to see what your doing and correct your mistakes. And why would you try to learn something advanced when you still haven't figured out the basics? And how would yo know if you did a move correctly or not if you didn't have have a instructor.

maybe hop in a time machine and go back about 800yrs. what are you looking for out of a martial arts why are you attracted to ninpo? because its pretty hard to find a legit ninjitsu place it would probably be easier to find another art for you. if you can try to trace the linage of the instructor you want to train under(ask him who he trained under and find out who they trained under and so on) if it goes back to Dr. Masaaki Hatsum then it MIGHT be legit.

The bad thing about ninjisu is that its suppose to be an art of secretcy people can say oh my master has to remain unknown or make up some fake name that you could never trace because they studied in the mountains of japan.

If you are looking for ninjitsu for self-defense see if what they teach you is practical to today's world because many of the old traditional ninja skills are obsolete today:
1. Seishin-teki kyōyō (spiritual refinement) -this is up to you if you want it or not
2. Taijutsu (unarmed combat, using one's body as the only weapon)-good
3. Kenjutsu (sword fighting)-obsolete
4. Bojutsu (stick and staff fighting)-good
5. Shurikenjutsu (throwing blades)-pretty obsolete
6. Sōjutsu (spear fighting)-obsolete
7. Naginatajutsu (naginata fighting)-obsolete
8. Kusarigamajutsu (chain and sickle weapon)-obsolete
9. Kayakujutsu (pyrotechnics and explosives)-good if you are going into the military
10. Hensōjutsu (disguise & impersonation)-maybe good in the military or secret service
11. Shinobi-iri (stealth and entering methods)good in the military of secret service
12. Bajutsu (horsemanship)-obsolete
13. Sui-ren (water training)- maybe good in the military
14. Bōryaku (military strategy)- this is obvious
15. Chōhō (espionage)-good in the military or secret service
or if becoming a detective
16. Intonjutsu (escaping and concealment)-military
17. Tenmon (meteorology)
18. Chi-mon (geography)

I think the closest you are going to get to a modern day ninja is someone like a Navy Seal, Marine Recon, or a secret agent like person

I know i might sound a lil harsh about ninjitsu but clowns like Frank Dux and Ashida Kim and the fact that its highly commercialized look at ninja turtles, naruto, old movies like surf ninjas, 3 ninjas etc makes for an easy why for some goon to say they are teaching ninjitsu to make money off people who dont know any better

LOL...I can't answer your question...but I wanted to know why you wanted to learn ninjitsu?

I mean...it's kind of a joke...if you want to learn a martial art...Take muay thai, or jiu jitsu, or sambo, or Judo...heck, I would even put Tae Kwon Do over ninjitsu...
