Dear Barry,

Ireland is not part of NATO.

And its the "Irish Defence Forces", including the part-time reserve has a strength of about 12,000 men & women.

The Irish Defence Forces have been serving with the United Nations in Lebanon since 1978 among other U. N. missions.

Interesting question.-The answer is basically two-fold. The Irish understand terrorism because of the former troubles in Northern Ireland (ex. IRA and The Orangemen). However, that conflict is over and now Northern Ireland is no longer terrorized by sectarian violence but bored to death by sectarian politics.
Where does Ireland stand on U.S. (and Britain's) war on terrorism? Initially Ireland was in support of it but the support has waned. Ireland is a notoriously neutral country (ex. WWII); therefore, politically they don't take a stance.

Our Irish friends are where they have always been, when it comes to helping out. On the sidelines.

Besides, is it not the Irish Republican Army (IRA) that invented terror tactics?

Well Barry, asuming from your name that you're English you should know full well where we are when it comes to the war on terror.

Ireland has been a nutral country sence the foundation of the state............remember that? - the rebellion

We're not under attack at all
Muslims live in our country (maybe not that many) but we go to school with them, work with them, joke with them and so on and none of them want to kill us

I really don't know how it got to where it's at in England-eastern, fundamentalist muslims in a Western country

It's not like that here

Intoxicated and unconscious under a table. Yes i mean all of them.

Nah just kidding, they don't want to get involved in a war that has nothing to do with them. Plus they have finally won their own war on terror. Why would they want to fight another one?
