I have often wondered what motivates other people and what they like to paint? something realistic, surreal, abstract? and what they find themselves painting the most?
For me I like to paint water, sky & females...I prefer the female body as a subject matter over the male. I like my paintings to be either realistic or surreal.
I paint landscapes the most, with both sky and water in them.

since i'm not very good with reality, i stick with the surreal. like right now, i'm painting an ocean under a water faucet....with a fish in a parachute...my motivation comes from being really bored and having a ton of ideas in my head. i just put them together in random combinations and paint it. when i draw, however, i love still art and the female form, as you said. it's so much more interesting than the male form [sorry guys :) ] and easier to draw.

I prefer to paint abstract, surreal, realistic, and geometric. My medium of painting does not allow for much realism, so everything has a surrealistic quality. Any subject is great to try at least once, but I prefer nature or abstract.

I'm a self taught traditional artist. Although i do work that people hire me to do and wouldn't paint for myself, i really like still life and portrait painting. The motivating factor for me is, the harder the project (mine or a commissioned work) appears to be the more fun i have trying to do it. My art can be checked out at hellosanantonio.com under artist name ''Guerro''.
