Like at Meijer or Mcdonalds, BK, Wendy's, etc? Would you pay a little more if they used earth friendly materials like: Biobags, biodegradable containers, cups, etc. ? Also I emailed/wrote letters to some places to tell them to use eco-friendly stuff:

McDonalds
Burger King
Wendy's
Meijer
D&W
Family Fare

Come on people lets have a bunch of people email/write/call all these places especialty big places that use a lot of non earth friendly stuff, and tell them that we want them to use eco-friendly stuff. But do me a favor email me at eco@2thegreenway.com and tell me what company you emailed, I really would like that! Also visit: 1. www.2thegreenway.com 2. www.ecoproducts.com 3. www.biobagusa.com Also you can email me at that address if you have any other eco related thing, and if you email me at the address above I'll forward any emails I get back from companys I emailed! If we get enough emails/letters/calls to these big company they might do it!!!!! Thanks a bunch!!!!!! : )

The real answer is will people do this on a mass scale?

The answer is NO.

I live in a very environmentally friendly town (Austin,TX) where people in the central part of the city practice environmentalism in every way.

What I have seen and experienced is that this way of life seems to not be friendly on the pocket book. I have lived here for 20+ yrs and have seen the evolution of this area from an affordable area to a quite expensive city...due in large part to this way of life. The area is almost like a vacuum tube.......drive 6-7 miles in any direction from the center of Austin and it's like a different world. More like the consumers you would want to have an impact on but do not worry too much about eco-products. You know...the burbs where the majority of people live.

You can beat around the bush all day long about the benefits of eco-minded consumerism. Bottom line is that in order to bring eco ideas to the mass marketplace the ideas also have to be economy friendly.

Do this......and eco-friendly has a chance at being the norm. For now, it seems to be almost like a luxury item relegated to those with the disposal income to spend on what many call excess. Like buying a hybrid car for $25,000 when the equavalent gas operated car can be $7,000+ less.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, just pointing out some realities that come with managing a household on a limited budget.

I think this is the biggest flaw in the environmental movement.......ideology without economic restraint. Someone has to pay......if it means that a company will lose profit, then YOUR approach must change. If I were a large company, a bunch of e-mails would not sway me to stop the $$$ from flowing in.

A better approach would be to look at the waste management regulations associated with these companies and lobby to change them. Change a legal requirement.....and no one has a choice.

I try to avoid restaurants that give out a lot of cardboard, plastic, and paper products. As another has stated, we are hurting the environment eating hamburger/ beef consumed from those places, because in the country where the meat is being produced, deforestation is occurring to make pasture instead of growing crops to feed and make the indigenous people independent.

No in those cases, because hamburgers are supposedly eco-unfriendly to begin with. So let the organic veggie restaraunts do the recycled coffee mug thing.

i thoroughly consider you that's quite hypocritical. and that i became unaware that they only threw them away. yet i are not getting why no longer take the hangers. i continually take the hangers because of the fact i run out of hangers for my outfits. i recommend while you're taking the hangers then you definately would be making use of them many times. subsequently they do no longer finally end up in a land fill.

I prefer to take my own reusable cup with a screw cap and have it filled. I am more than happy to take my own reusable bags for anything. If you keep some in your car that seems to work.
