i have seen many of you do it, so don't deny it. why on earth if your not going to help the person, bother waste time posting?
we are all guilty of it at one time or another, but i'm talking to the one's who do it repeatedly and you know who you are.

i see the point system and to have a top contributer tag mean's what? that you post in any question for that status?

are ppl's selfesteem so low these days that they need the internet to justify there existence?

i think y/a should do away with status titles and i am sure we will see a drop in responses from most ppl, or yahoo should have an option button where if the person responds but fail's to help "see ex below", the answer should have the points removed along with the answer.

i seen this answer today from a top contributer:
sorry i can't help you.

now i voted the answer thumbs down. why wouldn't y/a make a option, to report that post where i can say, didn't answer the persons q, so y/a can delete and remove points

it's only proper and polite that if you can not help a person then you should move onto the next question instead of wanting so bad to have a status here on y/a.

to open4one now let's see i see the ? typo, also i do not get point's by posting a question, actually if i'm not mistaken it cost point's. on another look, see your just the type i am speaking about, you posted with, as you said a stupid answer. had you read the question's you could have seen the that they are valid poin'ts to be made and should be answered appropiately. also you do not have a top contribitor tag and i am afraid you do know what it mean's. i have no concern's, my point in being is that ppl like yourself seem to want to post in any topic/subject. all your answer contained was your opinion.
i could careless who has more point's or not, the point is why ppl like yourself waste time to post somewhere within y/a without contributing with knowlegeble information, instead of opinion's or sorry i can't help. if you can't help or contribute to the end cause of an issue. then you really should bide your time educating yourself.

Looks like it is all about the point system here. I had a great answer and some one with one of the silly answers got the best answer nod. There were even better answers than mine, and it doesn't hurt my feelings to say that there were, but the silly one got the best answer. Then again some people may just want to play games, and this is the wrong site for that. I think it would be awesome if you asked a question and got one those smart-alec responses, if the asker could report it as not a valid response and knock a point off so that person would only recieve 1 pt instead of 2.
Crazy idea, but hey, maybe people will start be a little bit polite about some one's questions...

Of course, there could be those people that will abuse that and keep others from gaining a level by continually knocking off points. I guess we can just sit back and hope for the best from the rest of the people here. Not every one is a jerk...

Stupid questions - no such thing...Just because you may be an expert on a subject doesn't mean that some one else knows anything about it. If someone askes me a question, I assume that they really no nothing about the subject and will explain it as detailed as they want. An ex-girlfriend wanted to know about football, I told her everything that I knew about the subject, and encouraged her to ask questions when she had them. She would probably not be a Colts fan for the past 4 years if not for me. (I am a Bears fan) But the point is that I didn't act all superior, but tried to get her into a pasttime that I enjoyed. Soon thereafter, she became more of an expert and could help other people understand football.

If you aren't trying to teach, then why are you trying to answer any questions??? If the only thing you are doing is being sarcastic, then why don't you just go into a chat room. I'm sure you'll you'll get the love you need from some of my friends.

In some cases, the question really doesn't deserve an answer. For example, "Why don't (democrats/rebublicans) understand that (Bush/Clinton) is the Antichrist?" Does that kind of thing really DESERVE a helpful answer? What kind of helpful answer could one even envision? The only appropriate response would be sarcasm.

Now, let's look at your own question. Hrm... I see at least four question marks, which one is the question you want answered? The first one isn't even a question, it just has a question mark so you could post this in the first place. The next two are really one question, and I'm not sure it should be directed to the general public anyway, since even though I have a "top contributor" tag, I have no idea what it means. I didn't ask for it. The last question is purely rhetorical anyway, so other than to respond "probably", there's not much one can say about it.

Basically, to answer the mystery that seems to be your main concern, "Stupid questions deserve stupid answers."
