I do leave plenty of water out for her, and I keep thje toilets flushed, but if you leave the lid up, she will hop up on the sink and drink from the toilet bowl.

Cats are attracted to running water! That is why she is drinking out of your toilet, she thinks it's a giant fountain. Of course it's not a good idea to let her do this. Get her a real fountain and help keep her healthy.

She may simply decide it is a different source of water. Sometimes cats will pass up nice fresh water to drink from a dirty old puddle of rain water. No telling what goes through their heads. The water might also be colder than what is put out for her. Getting a fountain for your cat seems like an ideal approach. Oh, and keep the lids down. Then, there is no possibility. This is especially important after you have used bowl cleaner as they leave traces that could be harmful for your cat.

Beside using eye and ears, cat also uses smell to detect prey. That is why you can find male cat doing what dogs do when it is time for them to ... you know what. Firstly, the cat will not drink from the toilet. Don't you flush? Anyway, the cat can smell. They can tell who litter in the toilet. They will never drink from water that are dirty, unless of course you purposely ensure that the cat got nothing to drink. If so, even human will do likewise. So do ensure you always got a bowl of fresh water for your beloved pets.

PS: Tap water are not fresh water!

I have heard that the water is cold and refreshing due to the porcelain toilet. Any cat will choose this over a bowl but discourage it, as they can fall in, or become ill from automatic bowl cleaners

Well, no. Your cat would probably not even be able to reach the toilet, and if she did drink out of it, it wouldn't be becouse of the fact that it's your litterbox. I relly do hope your cat has some decent place to drink water.
