The worst ear infection ever.. need advice.?

Started out in 1 ear. Both the outer and middle ear were infected. After days on Keflex (antibiotic), Vicodin/Lortab (pain), Motrin 800mg (pain), drops, some progress made. Now the other ear is getting infected. I can not go through a double infection again. I have mixed in Mucinex (otc) and Nasorel (spray).

What should I do?

You need to be seen by a regular ear doctor instead of a family doctor. I would go to the E.R., explain your situation, and let them help you until you can see an ear doctor. You can also try lying on a heating pad. Not only will you get some relief, the heat may loosen up the infection or buildup enough to where it starts to drain a little.

I have a son, Joey Niceforo, who is a young 27 year old tenor, with a group called "DESTINO" recording in Vancouver Bc, Canada.

For the last few weeks Joey has had a cold. Just a few days ago he developed an ear ache, a swollen ear and loss of hearing. He was diagnosed with serous otitis media (middle ear infection).

Joey's ear got better just before flying.

He also got the special ear plugs for flying, and arrived in Florida, from Vancouver, on April 1st. On April 2nd he told us the ear was almost 100 percent, and he will, with the other, great DESTINO tenors be performing, in the COLORADO BALL ROOM DISNEY WORLD tonight at 7 pm.

First of all, loose the Mucinex and the Nasorel if your doctor has not prescribed it. Then, go back to your doctor, and let him know what is happening. Since I assume you are over the age of five (the age when our Eustachian tubes begins to slope downward into our mouths), and a double infection has occurred before (according to you query), then I would consult a specialist, or get referred to an ENT specialist as soon as possible.

In the meantime, put a pillow under the head of your mattress to evenly lift your head and promote drainage from your ears.

I would guess that the infection is inside the ear and not from an ear ring. In that case the antibiotic is not appropriate for the bacteria it is trying to kill. You need another antibiotic. Also make sure you are not drinking milk with the antibiotic and you are taking it as prescribed so the medicine can work to the full potential.

take rubbing alcohol and white vinegaer, mix it 1 to 1 ratio and dropper it into the ear every two hours until infection feels better, continue for 3 times a day for a week then two times a day for two weeks, then daily for two weeks

you can also do same thing with hydrogen peroxide, but at this stage you need the alcohol solution, then can move to a hydrogen perixide if you want after infection is gone as a maintenaince for reoccurance

You should definetly go to a doctor. Try to find an ear specialist, they will be able to direct you better than a regular family doctor.Tell him/her the whole story of what happened, and ask about any better medication you would be able to take.
