Hon, just take the bible for what it is.... a conglomeration of writings of stone age starving shepherds of the tribe of Israel, no different than any other set of folk lore of any other tribe written 2000 years ago, that was copied, recopied added to subtracted from and this one more or less survived. It has no more validity that those written by the Hittites, Egyptians, or any other tribe living there both before and after the writings of the Israelites.
Now of course you will get answers that "OMG, this one was the word of the living GAWD, and He be striking you ded if you dunt believe it...."
Sky daddies and spooky stuff aside, be practical... it is what it is, whether the fundamentalist christian would like it or not.
It has no more validity that the koran or any other holy book. Every group claims that theirs is THE book... can't all be true, can they?

Dude. I'd rather you not post if you don't know enough.
The NT wasn't written by Jesus, but by the people around him - much like reporters in those times. The accuracy is sufficient.
The discrepancies in the Gospels -reinforce- the accuracy of the Bible, rather than weaken it. Why? Let's say you ask ten different people to write about the meaning of life. Would your answers be the same? Of course not. Yet many different people (over 40) wrote independently about Jesus, and yet their answers are the same.
Yet, not identical. If their answers were identical, there would be even more doubt about the authenticity of the Gospels, as accusations of copying would surface. But the general similarity of the descriptions of Jesus, yet each gospel leaving out some details which are covered by others, proves beyond doubt that the record of Jesus's life and ministry as written by the Apostles, is genuine.
Nice try, but marred by insufficient knowledge.

Although I had not really ever thought of it that way,you are indeed right. Jesus's writings are nowhere to be found, everything we know of what he supposedly said is through word of mouth, from other people who claim they knew him. After all if we have no testimony from him we don't even know if the people who wrote the books of the Bible actually knew him as well as they claim they did,so everything they wrote is no more powerful than a rumor. Not one word of it has even the validity to stand up in a court of law,so how can it have enough validity to dictate how a society can be run.

No because the BIBLE was inspired by God and put in the hearts/minds of the prophets/writers, according to scripture, so it DOES count :
2 Peter 1:20- 21: "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. "
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
What they saw, was from the angle of place they were when they wrote the account. The same writers at current events accounts may differ slightly, because its' written from their own SCOPE, angle, what they could see from where they were etc. That happens TODAY in papers, it doesnt mean it didn't happen or anyone was wrong, it just adds another dimension to what is being reported.
ALL SCRIPTURE - NOT JUST PROPHESIES

Using modern rules of evidence, no religion could survive. However, hearsay is allowed in the circumstance of a death. However, to be fair to Christians and the other religions, it is what we have to work with. The Koran is no better nor the Bhagavad Gita, but it is what we have to work with.

Jesus never wrote nothing or commissioned any person to write a single letter.

He didn't write any NT book. He typed it all out on the keyboard of his brand new computer.
