Here are some dogs I would like not all at once though Dober Pincher, Shiba Inu, Cocker Spanial, Aerdale (I think I spelled that right), and maybe a German Shepard.

It depends on you. You should go to a shelter and look at the dogs, see which one you like best and how much work they are and how much time you have, I would suggest the German sheperd, Cocker spaniel or the shiba Inu out of the dogs you are considering. I also suggest doing alot of research. Who knows you might like a different dog.

I've had poodles, German Shepards and Rat Terriers and loved them all. All vastly different in personality and commitment. Currently we have a Maltese and a Pomchi. Actually the Maltese is my moms but we have her when mom travels so she lives her much of the time so we claim her.

The Pomchi however is a wonderful dog. It's one of the designer breeds. Half Pomeranian and half chachuachua and he is simply wonderful and quite beautiful. At first glance you think he is a Chachuachua but then you realize how beautiful he is and you see a short haired Pom. Just the best little dog. (I'm sure Chachuachua is spelled wrong but dog lovers are generally kind and forgiving. Are we?)

i would have to say the shiba inu and a English cocker i have worked at a kennel with all of this breeds . Airedales are hyper and can get very big over 70 pounds shibas are sweet loving very people oriented and get along get with other dogs and the English cockers are just cute with the long noses and the sweet spirits love everything about them they other dogs are good choices if you were to do it by breeders make sure parents are on site to see their personalty also if you go to rescues check out how they got there. good luck in you search.

I think a West Highland Terrior or one even with a little mix in him is great. They are really protective and good little watch dogs. I used to take mine camping with me and if I was spooked I'd let him sleep outside the tent and believe me he'd let you know if anyone was in the perimeter, (or anything!). They are so smart and intuitive. Even though they are a small breed they are pretty rugged and are definitely survivors. They are good about staying in there own territory. I 'm looking to adopt one myself right now that needs a good home, hopefully a male a year or younger if anyone hears of one. I live in Mississippi. You are doing the right thing researching the different breeds because you do need to get one that suits you and the pets and your living situation because once you adopt one it's like a family member for life. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I have a Shiba Inu. You will not find a cuter puppy or grown dog. Everyone will ask you what it is. But be prepared for a high energy dog. They need to run and have exercises. If you like cats, this is the most cat-like breed of dog (meaning they are more independent than most dogs). They are very intelligent, and very vocal. They demand attention when they want it, but they are so cute, you don't mind.

a lot depends on what you want in a dog. size is a consideration, as is activity level. do you want a dog that sheds, or one that must be groomed? are there children around? there are many factors to consider.
can you afford to keep a dog? they cost a lot of money to maintain. food, routine vet checks and vaccinations, (God forbid) emergency vet procedures, spay or neuter, boarding if you have to be away and can't take him, it all adds up fast. I think it's estimated that you will probably spend about $1000.00 a year on a dog, including food.
I live in an apartment, and while many of my neighbours have labs, and other large breeds, and I would like one myself, I have 3 toy poodles. I don't think an apartment is a good place for a large dog, especially since most of these people keep theirs in cages all the time.

I would love to have either an Irish Wolfhound or a Scottish Deer hound. They`re very large but gentle and they don`t shed.

I would love a German Shepherd. I always get a shelter dog (I feel too guilty to ever buy a dog when so many are homeless) that is a shepherd mix, and they have been the smartest, healthiest dogs.
