I don't find it offensive, what I do find offensive is when people email me telling me what I believe is wrong and they try to convert me. Not gonna happen.

Because they have been pushed around by so many who use their religion as an excuse to pretend they have the right to do so. Because any honest person can tell you they've been stabbed in the back by far more xtians than atheists. Because many catholic priests have always been known to be pedophiles although the truth is only now being revealed openly. Generally pushy offensive people who are under the sad mistaken impression that they are somehow better/smarter/more deserving than others is a really offensive thing to those of us who live by higher moral standards than the know-it-all talk-a-lot as if - pretenders that so many christians are.
Have a nice day!

I do not find the Jesus in the n.t. and gnostic gospels the least bit offensive. The people who call themselves christians, on the other hand, know very little about the person they say they are following. The Holy Spirit finds that very offensive.

Hey I'm one of the enlightened ones, an atheist and I don't find those words offensive.
Who are the "many" who find the very names of jesus and christianity offensive?
The only ones I can think of are followers of other religions because you all hate each other with a vilifying passion

I don't find the names offensive. However, I find Christianity and other beliefs offensive when foisted on the young who then grow up believing in the dangerous nonsense they are taught.
Jesus, I can take or leave. Assuming he even existed.

Because they need something to complain about and wield thier superiority.
Like when they complain about when the Christian right goes up against TV shows or music they say just dont watch but then they in turn get upset because a little nativity scene is placed somewhere they need to complain about that instead of just walking by.
There really is not too much difference between Christains and Athiests, most are decent people that mind thier own business but they both have a certain group that are arrogant and like to yell and complain and think they know everything.

I find christianity offensive but not Jesus. I believe he did exist but not in the way the bible portrayes him. Neither do i believe in God except as a part of each and every one of us, rather like a group mind.

Instead of finding the name Jesus being offensive, they should go down on their knees, and thank him for paying the price of their sins.

it's not that jesus and christianity are offensive, but rather their believers are and that is of every sect of christianity. we, and i speak for millions the world over, find it offensive to have that particular religion rammed down our throats all of the time. when are these christians going to learn that they do not hold a monopoly on the worlds spiritual belief system.

Hmm... I've never really heard of anybody getting offended by the name Jesus (peace be upon him)... or Christianity. I'm Muslim and Jesus (Pease be upon him) is regarded as one of God's most greatest prophets... so... not sure who would really get offended by his name?
