Are you cooking them five minutes after the water comes to a boil? If you are, that's way too long. If you're timing them from when you put the pan with cold water and eggs on the burner, it may not be long enough. You need to cook them for three mintues AFTER the water starts to boil.

To do it, put cold water in the pot, lower the eggs into the cold water, and gently bring the water to the boil. Leave the eggs in for 3 minutes and remove them from the pan and place the boiled egg into an egg cup.

Immediately slice off the top immediately with a knife - if you don't the egg will continue to cook, and the yolk will harden.

I don't think boil eggs is easy like everyone think. Even boil egg still needs a technique on how to do it. Cooking takes time and patient. Maybe keep on practice on your eggs. Maybe someday you will get just right, even boil soldiers egg. Eggs are cheap to use in your practice. Keep on trying.

You said 5 minutes still uncooked then try 10 minutes. If it too well done then do it at 7 or 8 minutes. If still uncooked in 10 minutes then try 15 minutes. Make sure you don't use dinosaur's eggs.

Five minutes???????? Good grief - how big are the eggs!!!

For soldiers you only need to boil them for around three minutes. Make sure the water is boiling well, the eggs are at room temperature and literally just three minutes!
