I just want the outright answer on how we can actually win the war in Iraq.

In WWII it was Japan & Germany's unconditinal surrender.

How can we win and what will define the ultimate point of victory?

Our nations true victory would be the recognition of the president to retrieve the troupes ! Iraq and whats happening there is wrong ! In my point of view of course .. I think we should send a peace request and wait for an answer !

We can't win in Iraq. Mainly because the customs over there between the people who live there can't see eye to eye. This war won't stop as long there are terrorist groups there making havoc on their own people and the soldiers there.

During WWII, we had allies to fight along side us, but this war going on now, the U.S. really have no allies. Even though we are the super power, we are getting no support from other countries, and besides, the U.S. has a conscious. We can't do the same thing to Iraq than we did in Japan by bombing them to kingdom come. Good day.

We actually already did win. When the president announced the end of hostilities, the actual war was won. The objectives of ousting Saddam Hussein and setting up a electoral process for the Iraqi people to create their own government have been achieved. We are now involved in an occupation to shore up a rather weak government. There is no winning left except for the occassional battle.

Iraq is going to be another Vietnam. The second we leave, the terrorists will take over the country, and it will be another Saddam. To win, we need to maintain control while training the newly formed Iraqi democracy how they can keep control, and take over for us. Basically they have no idea, and it will take a very long time. The democrats are running out of patience, and will force a premature withdrawl. Then it will be like Vietnam again

To win is possible in Iraq, Turn the providential control back to the new Iraqi government and assist on smaller security issues. When Iraqi people see that its terrorists blowing up bombs and Americans are not around anymore they will deal with the problem themselves.

I don't think there is any realistic way to win this war. It's sad.
Surely we could have, but the chance was lost probably within the first few months after the fall of saddam

Win WHAT? Because USA is not fighting against a country like in World War II, but against terrorism, isn't it?
So I don't think there is anything to win in Iraq. Sorry, but this whole thing was a whole mistake from the very first day.

Its impossible to win a war when you dont know who the enemy is or where they are located. In world war 2 we defeated a foreign army....In Iraq we are in between two sides in a civil war

If we had just gone over there and turned Iraq into a parking lot then we would've already won and all the troops would already be home. I know there are women and kids involved, but the kids also come at the soldiers with guns! Future terrorist, wipe them off the map and end it already. That's just my opinion.
