From what I have seen so far with the COT Races; personally it is going to increase my interest in NASCAR. The racing has become a bit tighter, more intense, and produced so very exciting finishes.
There is always one constant and that is change. Most people hate change at first, but once they get comforable with it they will embrace the COT and the wild racing it brings.
As for comparing the NHL to NASCAR....I see your point because NASCAR right now is making the same mistake the NHL made. By taking the broadcasts from network to Cable it has limited the access Fans have to the sport. "Out of sight out of mind" the old saying goes. When the NHL went to basic cable, it lost Fans and continues to lose Fans.
I know some people have made rude comments like "you should get cable then". Problem, no matter what cable or satallite provider you have they do not and will not carry every channel. NHL went to VS and I do have that, but some of my friends don't get VS or TNT.
NASCAR needs to wise up and learn from NHL's huge mistake and get their broadcasts back on network TV where all Fans have access.

Hello wake up it's been going down hill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I might be able to watch it more. NASCAR is doing this so the cars look more like a car that you might see on the road. Not a car that has a hunk of metal sticking straight out of the trunk to create drag.
NHL is coming back and the reason they lost some of the original fans is not the same as why NASCAR has lost some of it original fans. I don't understand why you used that as an example.
TV has infested it's on air commercialism on NASCAR but you newbies don't know any better cause this is how it has been since you have been watching. Making it a politically correct sport and in the world of auto racing we don't need, we need that rough tough sport of my car is faster than yours sport like it once was. FOX and the France family took that away. As soon as Mike Helton took over that was it.

Before long, Nascar will have the drivers drawing numbers out of a hat and issue them cars. The COT is the worst move Nascar has made since the restrictor plate. I doubt I'll lose much interest... I've been a stock car race fan for too long... but it sure won't be close to the good ol days.

I sincerely doubt it. Some people, not fans, lost interest in the sport when they went to the smaller cars in 1983! The true race fans stuck with the sport and even in the year 2008, all true NASCAR fans will root for their favorite driver and team and make the sport even better than this year. Once a fan, always a fan!

Hendrick did no longer dominate by COT they have been the suitable group regardless of which physique they have been working! 2 very logical solutions to this questin that are no longer being listed via maximum human beings! a million. Small communities! Haas sixty six/70 appeared very solid in a gaggle of COT races now they get to paintings with it a week. (i'm no longer putting them interior the chase or something yet while they could get into the perfect 20 for a small group it is extensive!) 2. All Toyota communities- bear in mind they have been attempting to enhance 3 forms of automobiles final year as a sparkling producer! Now they get to concentration and use all their components in arising the COT automobiles! seek for Gibbs to tutor around Toyota's engine software very rapidly! For the checklist! 3 Gibbs automobiles interior the Chase and positively one of those fellows will win interior the 1st 10 races!

It's like an IROC race -- all the cars are the same. I think the fans will stay but eventually it will hurt the manufacturers -- you cant tell a Ford from a Chevy from a Toyota from a Dodge, I prefer it when you can buy on Mon. what they race on Sun. That said some of the best races and closest finishes were with the COT

No. In fact, I think NASCAR has done a good thing by putting the racing more back in the hands of the drivers than in the performance or aerodynamics of the car. I think you will see more contenders in each race and closer finishes overall. This can only increase interest in the sport in my view.

It will take some getting used to the new Checker Cab. I will still watch-at least most of the races. The Brickyard 400 at Indy next year will definitely be a yawner.

You're joking right?? Why would a car change decrease interest. People lost interest in Hockey because they went on strike.
