My sister has a cat and he is a long haired mix Himalayian/Russian Blue and He only sheds in the summer time. He doesn't even shed in the other three seasons.

Cats shed 2 main times a year. To get rid of their winter coat and to get rid of their summer coat... but they, in my opinion, shed more in the summer... or at least my cat does *blah*

they do shed more in the Summer just like their coats get heavier in the Winter. It is their bodies way of regulating their temp. Dogs also do the same process but the also can pant to keep cooler. Kitties do not have that ability. You can brush your cat to keep the extra hair removed..

I'd have to say yes. Just like with dogs, they lose that winter coat that helps keep them warm. All my cats are kept indoors year round, but I always notice more hair around the house in the summer.

YES!

There's a winter shed time too, but nowhere near as heavy. Heat makes more of the undercoat come off.

Most likely depends on how hot it is. Humid etc....... and I would think that a white cat doesnt get as hot as a black cat....
.My cats (2 of em) are shedding like crazy, but they are black and its is very hot in our area. Been above 85 for 2 weeks.........

yes.

also shedding can be lessened by feeding better food and brushing more...

too many foods use too much filler and this makes them shed more. (eg corn should NEVER be first or second on an ingredient list)
