I find it strange when christians and muslims use science and logic to discredit another religion........but call for faith while analysing their own or resort to threats when criticised by others using the same science and logic!

Either they should embrace science and secular humanism as a way of life or stop criticising other's beliefs whatever or whosoever they worship!

Very very true... its for that very reason I left the church. If they had been kind to each other then no breaking would have occurred... and I'd still be blindly following along!

This kind of behavior drives me crazy!!! In nearly all religions, humanity has faults. Nobody is perfect. When people use their religion as a stepping stone to show how "good" or to condemn another belief that isn't their own, is putting themselves on a very slippery pedistal.

Senator Vitter is a classic example. He screamed, ranted and wanted President Clinton's head in the wake of Monica Lewinsky affair, yet he himself was helping himself to a prostitute. He ran for office, showing his clean cut family and used his platform to be a "goodie-goodie". That is hypocracy at it's worst and really diminishes any concept of ministry.

The big evangelist from Colorado (the name escapes me at the moment) is another example. He had this huge church and congregation, where he stood on the pulpit and berated homosexuality. He went as far as becoming a major contributor and leader in Colorado's voting measure in banning gay marriage. After the ballot measure passed, we found out that he regularly visited a male prostitute.

I am not taking this stand to condemn either homosexuality or prostitution. What happens in people's bedrooms should stay there. If it gives you pleasure and a strong purpose in life, who are we to question that? As long as it is safe, sane and maturely consentual, I really don't care what people do.

Those who make a living off of berating people that are either gay or have sexual practices outside what would be called "normal" realms are walking a tight rope. It is only a matter of time before their behavior is exposed.

As far as science and logic goes, I think there is always room for healthy debates, i.e, whether or not Darwinism is the quintessential meaning of the beginning of life, vs. the age old story of Adam and Eve. Using faith to brow beat another is very silly and can become obnoxious.

When a person obnoxiously rules out any belief other than his or her own is another form of prejudice and discrimination. I would really love one day to read the Koran and see where someone might get the idea that it is cool to fly an airplane into a building and kill thousands of people because God has deemed it necessary.

Most mainstream Muslim people were as shocked as the vast majority of Americans were when September 11 took place. Very few people condoned the act, but this is not the first time a religion has taken this kind of war and terrorism to this extreme. The Japanese had a fundamentalist idiology in Buddhism that was similar during World War II. If a pilot flew his plane into a carrier, the belief was that the Japanese pilot would have a straght shot to Heaven. The Branch Davidians from Waco Texas is another example.

My bottom line any person can take any religion and drag it to it's most extreme element. Any belief that automatically supersedes all other beliefs is usually a recipe for disaster.

That was an excellent question. Thank you for asking that.

It depends what type of stones we are throwing to each other and intension of throwing the stones,it could be in a friendly basis, if comes to seriousness one part cannot just sit and see their glasses being put into pieces, remember some throw stones to break the glasses only and some they throw stones not only to break the glasses but to harm the contents.
For sure I know Muslims in the history exercised high lever of tolerance but went to far now - are the Muslims world are awake. Our fellow Christians are good in blamming the Muslims, they will throw the stones and change the story - the have budget to change the stories, they own the media, the build schools and implemented the system that changed the history.
Who are being killed today in Afganistan?Palestine,Iraq and Somalia?

Of course they should. They don't necessarily have to be in their house to throw the stones they might be on the street or in the park at the time. Just because they live in a glass house doesn't mean they are always in it 24-7. Anyway, they might lean out of the window and throw some stones.

We're all in this mess together. We might prefer our own outlook on life and morality, but the argument "my God's better than your God" reduces religion to the level of football hooliganism.

Science and logic were developed by the ancient Greeks who had a polytheistic religion. Once Christianity and Islam became sufficiently secure to have the luxury of study, the developed them. The notion that science and logic are somehow at odds with religion tends to be put about by people with a poor understanding of one or all of these subjects - and by arrogant zoologists.

Can you give me an example of threatening behaviour recently from Christians when their faith is criticised ? There is such a thing as objective criticism which seeks to find out the truth of every situation. I think we all want the truth don't we-even if it hurts?

LOL, look at who is throwing stones! YOU are!
What a hoot! Read your question as well as the details.

I infer that you are criticizing both Christians and Muslims here. Is that not throwing a stone?

I wish everyone would let everyone else have his/her own faith and let it all go. Why bother saying anything to anyone about what they believe if all you are going to do it mock that person?
