Jesus built his Church on Peter. This is the Catholic Church. Its not Peter's or the Pope's Church it is Christ's Church. The pope is the visible head of the Church while Christ is the invisible head of the Church. Christ is more important than Peter or the Pope, but they do his will. The Church is God's instrument on earth.

Not sure I understand the question. Jesus told Peter to build the Church upon this rock (Jesus himself) The church could not be built until Jesus fulfilled his mission. That included taking upon himself the sins of the world and dieing with out sin. The price of sin is death, so with out sin Jesus was able to take his body up again. His dieing thus allows us through his resurrection to be resurrected ourselves at his command. That is the free gift we all get as every one who has ever lived will be resurrected into their perfect body. So he could not start his church until after he died thus he had his followers start the church. All worship should be directed to the father, (GOD) however the church that Jesus set up is the only true way back to the father. His help is necessary for us to return to God.
