the last i knew, you could fly internally and to Ireland without one, but that was before all the 'terrorist' activities so maybe they have changed it. However,even then, you needed some photographic ID evidence. However, within the EU,, no.

It depends if you mean northern ireland or southern ireland, as far as I know the rules are for internal domestic flights anywhere within the UK to fly you need photgraphic ID, (Passport, Driving License, or similar - check with airline what the accept) if you travelling outside the uk it's passport city all the way, some countries also require visa's

You will need your passport to prove who you are. If you travel by boat within the EU (except the UK) or by car within the EU (except the UK) you don't need a passport but if asked to produce it by customs you will need to have it with you.
If travelling to the UK from anywhere in Europe you will need your passport.

If you travel to Ireland from the UK with Ryanair you will need at least a Full Driving Licence. However, If you go with Aer Lingus, all you need is a valid Bus Pass with your photo on it.

You need one for the EU, but you don't need one to go to Ireland. and before anyone says I'm wrong... I'm Irish and have been travelling between the West Midlands and County Cork for years.
