My dog's name is George. I already had a guinea pig before I got my dog, and it's name was Fred. So I named my dog George to go with it since the names Fred and George were characters in one of my favorite books.

one of my pets (dog) is Shyanne as I was from Cheyenne Wyoming, another is Savanah (dog) as she has somewhat the markings of the desert and we just loved the name, another is Gabby (African Grey) as she talks and talks and talks, another is Furball aka Freak (cat-with longhair) at first it was because we would furballs everywhere and once in awhile you would see a furball run across the floor then it was because he became a loner and would be in his own space and not come out unless everyone was in bed and it was semi-quiet and very scared of strangers...then there is Dacquiri (cat) named from my daughter as she loves dacquiri's...lol then there is Tink, Merlin, and Lola (birds) they came with names when I rescued them... yes I know I have a small zoo but I worked as a vet tech and also did bird rescue for a bit so it just happens.. not to mention a tank full of guppy's and a beta named Kamikaze as he jumps out of his tank if you don't keep a cover on it.. lol

I named one of my dogs (lab/rottweiler/dalmation) Maximus after Russell Crowe's character in Gladiator. His brother's name is Wyle, but my ex-friend named him and I don't know why she picked it. At first he was her dog, but then she abandoned him and I pretty much did everything for him, plus I had his litter mate Maximus, so I just took him with me! Then there's Vinny, my chihuahua, who's named after my favorite actor Vincent D'Onofrio. We also have a 16 year old terrier/beagle named Flo. We were going to name her Brett after the incredible Brett Hull (hockey player in case you didn't know) but then decided not to and chose Flo instead for some reason. And last but not least there's Connor, a rescued australian shepherd mix. His name was already Connor when we got him, so we just kept it.

My dogs are usually named after one of their parents or ancestors. Not always though. Sometimes a particular name just fits. For example, I have a dog named Sunrise Edition. His grandmother is Nuyear Edition. But...his call name is Sunny Bunny. He's my heart. :-)

My female is Sabrina. I had a carved wood seal by that name, and loved it, but gave it away. So I chose this for my beloved female pyr.

My Aussie was supposed to be in charge of the cattle, so I called him Sargent. I never found a reputable trainer to train me and him, so he's my night guardian.

My male pyr is Pepper. His ears had peppery marks when he was a pup. They still do, though not as strong. He does have a peppery personality, so it's appropriate.

my beagle mix's name is Kennedy- because I am a Canadian currently living in the US where I adopted him- so I wanted him to have an 'american' name. I also don't like 1 syllable names- so 2-3 syllables were the way to go.

my dog's name is alex, after a dear friend who was killed on a motorcycle 1 month before we got her. he was only 19. our new puppy's name is rocky. my daughter named him sight unseen, i could not have picked a better name...he is stocky, looks a bit unruly, but is a real trooper, he was a puppy mill rescue, and just has the sweetest big brown eyes, kind of sad and droopy, so rocky surely fit him..
