To Chant the name of Krishna, Narayna Hari. At the time of death chanting Hari's name removes all the evil done in the past. This is confirmed in Gita by the Lord himself.[Gita 8.5]
"Antakale cha mameva samaranmuktava kalevaram;
Yah prayati sa madbhavam yati nastyatra samsayah:"-8.5
'And he/she who at the time of death medating on Me alone' goes forth, leaving the body, attains My being; there is no doubt about this.
Furthur, Lord says at the time of death, whatevr one thinks about, takes that body only. [Gita 8.6]
And the same thing is furthur confirmed in Upnishads too. The world is nothing but the reflection of our own desires. At the time of death, the hidden desire forces the soul to take next body.
Therefore a dayingperson should chant the name of Hari only, to get librated, to get the ultimate and rise above birth and death.
In this connection there is a beautiful story of one "Ajamil" who though remained a very wicked man throughout his life at the time of death shouted Narayana Narayana and got the libration

I would describe a life process and ask them to tell me what process I was referring to.Suppose you are living in a warm and comfortable place where all your needs are met.You feel very safe and you don't want to leave, but a voice tells you that you must leave. It explains to you that you will have to feel some discomfort and pain, but it will be temporary.then you will see light and you will be in a better place. If the person thought I was describing the dying process I'd point out that I was describing the birthing process.there really is no dying just a rebirth.

I once was at the bedside of a very dear uncle who was dieing. I was cherishing the closure that we had left, and at his request sang him a song, that brought me back to my childhood.

I laughed, it had annoyed me so much in my teen years that he made me sing to him so often, (Don't you know, that I'm grown up?) and here he is right at the last minute...

God, how poignant, how my heart swelled up at the impact that he had on me. I wanted to give him something of me.

I asked him if he would come and visit me. He looked at me, and I knew that he was aware of his own death. He admitted, "I don't think I'll be able too". He suddenly breaks in with "see that robin outside? I love Robins". It's sleeting out there.

"The robins are just for you, Uncle Benny".

I'll tell you what, when I see a Robin, I'll always think of you, and I'll say "Hi".

"Really?!" He askes.

"Really". I responded.

He stopped speaking the next day, and a week later he was gone. Those Robins invaded my house in droves for quite awhile, afterward.

I loved it, and I learned to hold sacred that moment as it brought home to me how so much can come from so little. The unknowing impact that we have, that when it's time to go, is priceless. I have nothing to say to those dying other than,.

Thank-you...

My dying mother..her breast cancer relapse after 4 years. She knew is a matter of time and she got tired everyone else advises her the same old thing ei you gonna be alright, dont worry so, bla bla bla. I was only 18 yrs old at that time, and I m not close to her cos she did nt brought me up. I went back to live with her because of the cancer. So instead of me giving advice to her, she would like me to listen to her instead. She apologised to me for not taking good care of me and she also told me what kind of a ceremony she would like to have after she passed away. I guess I am the only one who would listen to her cos all other adults shunned her away when she talk about her funeral. She passed away about a month later, and I was in charged of her ceremony..which until now..I just cant forget..I guess different situation should be handled according to the needs.

A dying person does NOT need advice. All he/she needs to hear is: You are loved; be at peace.

I would tell them that if they are a child of Christ they should not fear, angels will be there to carry them away to heaven:

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; - Luke 16:22.

A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth. - Ecclesiastes 9:1.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. - John 14:1-3.

Tell them it is going to be wonderful.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother don

That this world is not our real home. IF you want to return to the eternal Supreme, Spiritual Kingdom where everyone is blissful and engaging in eternal loving relationships with The Supreme Absolute Lord Also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. I would ask them if they have a particular name of God they know if not I would ask them to chant the names of the Lord Hare Krishna. I would tell them to forget about all of their belongings because they are just temporary thing that make no difference when we leave this place. Forget about your friends and relatives, that God will take care of them. The only thing that you need to focus on now is Going Home. Detach yourself from all world things and this material body. Let go of it and surrender fully to our Creator Lord Krishna. Embrace Him with all your heart ask for forgiveness for all your shortcomings and sins. Beg Him to Please take you Home. Mostly just focus your mind on His Name Hare Krishna. For information how to die, and the purpose and meaning of human life. Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta PRrabhupada. asitis.com you can read it on line. Thanks.

I will ask him to be mindful... to watch his thoughts, his senses and his intentions... and if he/she is a Buddhist, I will recite sacred verses to pacify his/her mind so that concentration develops to a certain extent that they should not be distracted into evil thoughts (which may lead them to a lower form of birth)...

Lastly, I will ask him to reflect on the good virtues and deeds he had done in the present life and not to worry about anything else :-)
