My cats lose whiskers every now and then. They arent supposed to lose a lot of them ... they use their whiskers to balance.

But if you see that shes losing a lot .. or possibly starting to walk funny get her to the vet .. but if you just find them everynow and then, and she still has a good amount don't worry =)

Good luck ♥

They do shed them, but usually there's about 20 whiskers on each side.

If all of them are falling out and she's bald there (no whiskers or only a few) then there's something going on -- an allergy with food that's causing it, or another cat chewing the whiskers off her (they do that, it's stupid, but I've seen it), or possibly she got too close to a candle? They can burn them that way, which is very dangerous.

Losing whiskers in itself isnt harmful, but it might be a symptom of something else, like thyroid problems. At six, she's not old enough for old age to be causing the problem. All cats lose a whisker or two now and then, but if they're all falling out, take her to the vet.

It is not too unusual for cats to lose a few whiskers now and again, especially in times when they are rundown or in , but prolonged or frequent loss of whiskers can be an early indication of general ill health. Watch out for other symptoms such as discharge from the eyes, ears or anus, hair-loss, brittle nails or bad breath. If she continues to lose whiskers or has any other of the symptoms listed please consider taking your cat to the vet for a full examination.
